I'm more worried about our DB's covering, they let the Jets convert 3rd downs time after time. I would give our Defense a C- grade today and that's being generous. We were lucky the Jets receivers dropped a lot of balls.

What else is a wide receiver going to say?

I agree 100% , if every player had what they want, we wouldn't win a single game, whatever is best for the team comes first.

Re: Gibbs press conf.

If we keep putting up 200+ rushing yards per game the passing game WILL open up, period.

Any opposing team facing a rushing attack like that will have no choice but to 7 or 8 in the box to try to stop it and the passing attack will open up just fine.

The question is, CAN we put up 200+ per game?

Also, the running game set Campbell up with a great opportunity to throw the game winning TD pass which he missed. If the Redskins can run the ball like they did today the rest of the way, we will be fine.
I agree with you here. I am a big Campbell fan, but he has not looked good in a while. He played pretty well at GB but had all the drops, I thought he made some good decisions against AZ when he had chances. Obviously last week was a debacle and he did not play well. I wondered watching him yesterday about his confidence level. It is so hard to know without seeing the All-22 and knowing all the route combos and coverages, but all those check-downs to Sellers were not designed to go to Sellers. Something was happening further down the field and either it was covered, or he thought it was covered, but I just have trouble thinking that the Jets played THAT well in coverage given what some other teams had done to them earlier in the year. It's just really hard for me to separate out what you can pin on the coaches, what you can pin on the players, and what you can pin on Jason checking down without having more info. Missing Moss again really killed me...though it did look like Jason put some more air under that one than he had previously so he is working on it. Just needs to get it out in the middle of the field when there isn't any deep saftey back there.

The offense needs to figure something out quick, but I'm just not all that confident they are going to get that much better. Defense struggled mightily yesterday as well and it felt like 2006 the way they couldn't get off the field on 3rd down.

Good post--that's the point of the run game, in many ways. The Jets are a pathetic run D, so we hit them where it hurt. But we need to effectively mix in the pass, run play action, etc. Doubt we'll be this dominant in the run game again this year.

As for Moss, we are not having this conversation if JC does not overthrow him. Instead, we are talking about good mixture, killer instinct, and all that jazz. We are not, because JC didn't hit it, not because Al didn't call it.

This game, IMO, was to ESTABLISH the run in the minds of our team and everyone else. THat should take the safeties out of deep shell coverage and open things up for JC. But the kid has to hit a few.
