Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
I get the feeling that Portis just doesn't want to be a Redskin anymore.

And it's funny to me that a lot of the same people that defend the front office for cutting a player are the same people that bitch at a player for wanting to leave the Redskins organization and play elsewhere. |

Yes. There are plenty of players that badmouth their organization, but whether the team decides they don't need the player, or the player decides he wants to play elsewhere; 99% of the time, it's the player that looks bad. Even if a player has a legitimate beef, most people still view him as a malcontent or a crybaby.

Add Sal'vea.
Seriously, CP said no more in that article than I used to say at work. It will all work out in the end. Remember, an average NFL career is four (4) years in length. CP has had that, and more, and he laid his career on the line last year during a meaningless PS game. You have to expect the unexpected.

Denver has been very intelligent the way they have let their RB stars go! WHy not when you can always find someone to duplicate his numbers?

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
If I'm picking a team our by position, let's say like a fantasy draft in Madden... the last position I'm going to pick is running back.
Jsarno is right on when pointing out great offensive lines are what's extremely important. This doesn't mean that there aren't great running backs out there that can singlehandedly take over a game. These guys are rare, and worthy of a lot. I firmly believe CP is one of these rare gems in the NFL. He can block, he can run, catch, pass, the works. Do I feel we got shafted in the Denver deal? Not really. We got a running back that broke a franchise record... and who is capable of taking over games. I think Denver got the better end of the deal, but we by no means got "screwed over".

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
Do you guys really think that Champ Bailey was going to stay in Washington? He had one year left on his contract and with the revolving door at the defensive coaching position... he wasn't staying in town.
Just wait.... Portis will have his biggest year as a rusher in the NFL this year. This offense is going to click! The defense will take a lot of pressure off the offense and vice versa. This team has got to come together this year.... and yes, Portis know with the money that he is making, he has got to perform. I think he is pumping himself enough. and.... I'm spent. [/B][/B] |

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
Most people don't think he is going to last to the midway point of the season, so he probably is right that this might be his last year as a Skin. To me it won't matter that much. There are a ton of good FA RB's available every year. You know Snyder will throw around big $$$$$$$ to get the best he can. I like CP and would hate to see him go, but I liked Terry Allen and he had to go, loved Stephen Davis and he left, so if he does go it will suck, but we always find a decent replacement. Just hope it doesn't cost us a lot of $$$$$$$$$ AND a high draft pick.

Clinton is being Clinton!!! Everyone knows he acts-a-fool front of the camera! While what he said is true,(our front office does not play around) I think he is happy here, he can be himself and the fans love him! this is how stuff gets blow out of proportions, next thing you know it going to be on sportscenter (if its not already!) lol!

I don't know how you could prefer having an above average runningback over the best corner in football when we have been trying to replace Champ for 3 years now. Now, shoulda coulda woulda, we don't have Champ, we have Portis. I think Portis' comments hold a lot of truth. He is being paid like one of the top backs in the league and Betts is more than capable. Portis gets called dumb a lot by fans and the media but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Washington will drop you like a bad habit when you become too expensive in their eyes. Hell, he may already be gone next year even if he puts up 2000 combined yards. I would be willing to bet a lot of money that either Washington, Griffin or Portis are let go along with Springs in the offseason, especially if we sign Cooley long term. And don't run with my statement as a negative on Portis. Portis is a S T U D and Bett's couldn't hold his jock strap. |

Woah! Calm down, yes I read the article. I am just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if this was Portis's last year as a Redskin, I just get the feeling he is not happy here anymore. Is that a problem?

Champ: 7 years, $63 million with $18 million signing bonus
Portis: 8 years, $50.6 million with $17 million signing bonus Having the power to lock a hyperbolic Portis thread: Priceless (but I won't)
