Re: Jason Campbell's development
i don't understand why people get so enamored with height. the redskins have 3 legitimate nfl starting receivers right now. when is the last time you could say that about this team? the posse?

The opposing defensive coordinators have caught on to that screen pass. It didn't work at all last year. Teams were waiting for it. |

I have to go back again and dispute that Brandon Lloyd is a legitimate WR - I have posted the link to his stats for the past 4 years and I just can't see why people are enamored with the guy. If your best year was 48 receptions for 733 yds I would not call that stellar or legitimate - espescially in today's pass happy nfl. Overall he is averageing 32 receptions, 469 yds and 3.25 TD's a year - the numbers speak for themselves and if you were a GM would you honestly pick up a guy with these numbers to be your number 2 WR? Just think how much more dangerous Moss would be if he was not double covered as often as he is if we had a legitimate #2. Blame it on the qb, blame it on the team, blame it on the system, blame it on everything else but the player - that is what a Brandon Lloyd defender does. NFL.com - Brandon Lloyd |

We have one legit NFL wr. The others, so far, have not proved to be legit NFL wr's. They certainly have the potential but they have to do it on the field on a consistent basis. If Moss can stay healthy the next few years I think he can be just as good as Clark. But he is not there yet. |

Re: Jason Campbell's development
Well we may need to run the ball but this is not the 80's and early 90's. We are not going to be able to just run it down everyone's throat. W/out question we are going to need to improve our passing game. I can't remember the last time we had a 300 yard passing game. In some games the running game is not going to work and this is when you need to be able to lean on your QB.

Re: Jason Campbell's development
Okay honestly I think this guy is going to be really good. This could very well just be the homer in me but I just looked at the higlight film from 2006 and what he showed last year after coming off the bench to start got me to thinking. Everyone talks about how much he has improved from last year, he has legs, not Vick like but faster than anyone we've had in quite a while. The poise he showed in the pocket with pressure in his face was beautiful. One of the clips showed parts of the Giants game and he seemed very comfortable then tucking the ball when he needed to. Sorry, the articles that have been written about his offseason work and how he has improved just have me geared up for the season. I can't wait for him to show what he can do so I can shut these bastards at work up !
HAIL !

However, saying we have 3 legitmate NFL starting receivers is only correct if its true for all teams. Every team in the league has at least two recievers as good as Antwaan Randle El. Does that mean we need more help at WR? Not really. We have Moss and Cooley and some very talented pass catching backs. We have enough weapons presuming we don't overvalue Randle El and Lloyd and have our offense suffer because of it. They are NFL caliber targets who can catch a pass if the playcall gets them open. But they should not be the focus of our offense when we have talent like Moss, Cooley, Betts, and Portis around. I think you are guilty of undervaluing our role players just a tad, but I completely agree that we have everything we need for the passing game to be successful. If the guys we have now can't get into the top ten, it's time to start looking at the line, and the playcalling.
