Re: Jason Campbell's development
Only time will tell! I too am very stoked to see him in action again and from the comments in this article so is the rest of the team and coaching staff.

Re: Jason Campbell's development
Jason brings a versatility to the quarterback position that I dont think we've seen in Washington in...well forever. As you saw in the last game against the Giants, the kid makes plays from all over the feild. It looks like he's sacked, he has a first down, he can scramble around a little bit and makes some real good throws.
The composure you guys talk about is huge too. I still think Ramsey had the physical tools to be an exellent QB in the league (and I think thats why he is still in the leauge at this point), but mentally he was just wayyy to gone to really be successful on a consistant basis. Jason seems like he could have a bad play, series, game and still be fine the next time he takes a snap. He'll still make some mistakes, but theres ALOT to like about him right now.

Re: Jason Campbell's development
I said when Jason was drafted that he would prove to be the best QB in his draft class. He hasn't exactly proved me to be right yet, but I'm inspired by the reviews he's getting so far. It' going to be exciting watching his continued development, as he along with the success of the defense will prove to be the keys to our season.

Re: Jason Campbell's development
I've been a fan of JC since his days at Auburn even when he was whipping my Hokies in the sugar bowl. This just makes me that much more excited for the season.
I agree w/Matty, the O is not the question on this team, especially w/JC being hard at work. He's really showing the traits of a great qb, he's leading by example in the offseason. I think Jason Campbell will have a far better career than Jemarcus Russell & B. Quinn, and I might even add vince Young to that list too. Get ready to hear Hail to the Redskins quite often. (Disclaimer: I"m still worried about the D!) |

Re: Jason Campbell's development
As a Skins fan I admire your caution, that's good for your mental health, but at least you have to be happy that the coaches are publicly applauding his work ethic & progress. If he wasn't in there working they probably wouldn't say anything publicly, but then a source would tell JLC that the team is unhappy w/him.

Re: Jason Campbell's development
Very GOOD news on how hard Jason is working, I think it will pay huge dividends for us this year!

Re: Jason Campbell's development
While our defense needs FAR more improvement than our offense, I think our offense is capable of compensating for shortcomings on the defensive side of the ball. If Jason Campbell develops into a good QB, this offense does have the potential to explode. A sportswriter whose name is escaping me right now said that a lot of teams view Washington as a sleeping giant.....it's not doing much now, but it has the potential to be a force. If Jason Campbell improves as much as these articles say, he could transform our offense into the kind of weapon that people think it can be.
Has anyone else noticed that Jason Campbell's initials are "JC," as in "Jesus Christ." Coincidence? I think not. Deliver us from Dallas, Lord JC. |

Re: Jason Campbell's development
We better never stop trying to score, b/c I am still very concerned about the defense. But this article gets my psyched about JC. I think he's gonna be awesome.

Re: Jason Campbell's development
Qoute from the article:
"Campbell has accepted receiver Santana Moss' invitation to work together in Miami after next month's minicamp. Receiver Antwaan Randle El will join them, too." This was a good sign from the article as well. I hope that Jason and the WR's get together like the article says to really build some continuity. My question is why won't Brandon Llyod also work with Jason - isn't he the number 2 wr on the offense? It just seems to me that this year Brandon Llyod is on the hot seat and if he does not produce I would have to think he will be gone. Wouldn't it be in Brandon's best interest to get on a plane and join Santana and ARE to get on the same page with JC? |

Re: Jason Campbell's development
My bet is ARE is our #2 this year unless Lloyd can prove himself and get out of the doghouse.

I guess so. I keep harping on Brandon Llyod because he did have the worst stats in the NFL for a #2 but he sure made a lot of money and cost a lot of picks. I know a lot of people on the board say that it was the qb who could not get him the ball and that he was getting open and just running the routes that coaches asked him to run. Well this year there are no more excuses for Llyod. Jason Campbell's arm strength from what I saw and lots of other Skins fans saw is pretty darn good. Add to that the offensive line is 4/5 intact and one of the better lines in the NFL with 2 good rushers, a star WR in Moss and a good TE in Cooley - I just don't see if he has another bad year how anyone can still defend him and still think he should be part of the team. |
