What? You wanted Alan Branch (1st pick, 2nd round) at number six overall? You heard Gibbs. No teams were calling to trade up that far. If DAL got what they did from CLE what do you think would've been compensation for 6th overall?

We NEED a d line. He is another hard hitting safety. How is it we were all thrilled to get Adam Archuletta at first, then we were all thrilled to get rid of him when he didn't fit into our system? But now we went out and DRAFTED someone cut from a similar mold as AA???? That doesn't sound a little looney to you? We were better off drafting a Leon Hall type player and letting Springs play safety.
It kinda does hurt us considering YET A-FREAKIN-GAIN we will have NO pass rush. I don't know about you, that is pissing me off. How many years do we have to suffer with no pass rush before we learn. Williams can only disguise so many blitzes, and send the farm so many times. We saw how well that worked out last year.

What are you talking about?
Have you not seen my other posts? I wanted Okoye or a DE like Anderson at 6. I think Landry is a fine player, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't fit our needs, and doesn't fit our system since we have Taylor.

It's time to stop messing with picks...we are always behind the 8 ball in terms of amount of draft picks.

Not to split hairs, but Greg Williams' defense is based on Cover 2 / Tampa 2 with some wrinkles thrown in. GW likes to bring pressure from the LBs and Corners, which leaves the Safties spliting the field in Cover 2. Cover 2 is not effective with a run-stopping, blitzing SS, look at how bad Arch and our pass coverage was last year.

Trust me, I know more than you...if you think we need another run stopping safety, you have no idea what we really need.

What are you talking about? 5th ROUNDER is our next pick. Pay attention before you start calling someone else a dummy.

OK, it has become obvious that after this comment, I am arguing with the Village Idiot. And we all know the saying about arguing with the village idiot.

I suggest you calm down on the name calling in the future. There is no need for it. We should all be civil here.

Have a good conversation.

No offense JSARNO. IMO and and also in the eye of most experts Okoye and Anderson need some coaching up and bulking up. If Landry, Okoye and Anderson was available when ATL and HOU selected they would've picked Landry too.

Rest assured Snyder will bolster the DL and LB corps before long. Any doubters?

Landry is known as a better coverage guy and he should create the mismatches Williams envisioned with Archuletta.

Don't rule out Fletcher making our defense more stout against the run and commanding it the way Pierce did. I think you are going to see a big time improvement immediately.

Re: The Official 2007 Draft Discussion Thread

Let's not compare Landry to Archuleta. Landry is the real deal. Not only does he rock ballcarriers silly, he's has the football smarts to go with it. And Sean Taylor doesn't get beat often. As a matter of fact, he seemingly had a better season alongside Ryan Clark and Vernon Fox (guys who he trusted to know their own assignment). The greatest thing is that now we have some stability and not a roundabout Stoutmire, Prioleau gig.

I agree they do. Anderson would still be a starter for us, and I beleive Okoye would be too. I'm not saying Landry is a poor player...I just see AA all over again. Picking a run stopping safety when we needed a pass defending safety is not the wisest of things to do IMO. There is obviously nothing I can do about the fact that we picked Landry, except HOPE that we can turn him into what we need.

I do doubt that. He already brought in Fletcher, our cap numbers are very stingy right now, and who all is left in FA anyway? Our LB's are set. Maybe there will be a cap casualty later and we'll pick up a DE, but I am not holding my breathe, and I am not sure we'll have the space under the cap.
