Re: Redskins Sign Todd Wade to 2 year deal
If we make that move I give up on this team. So I am just going to ignore it.
As for Wade: he was looking for a place with an opportunity to start so I am surprised he signed here unless we gave him some assurances he would get a shot at guard. He'll be perfectly fine at guard if he can stay healthy. I'd still like another 1 or 2 olinemen in the mold of Wade from last year. Decent quality maybe coming off a little injury. Some good depth guys. Not guys who just take a spot but someone who can come in and hold the fort down ala Wade last year in very limited duty. Super happy on this signing. |

Re: Redskins Sign Todd Wade to 2 year deal
Anyone else think Schefter has slipped? It seemed when he first started at NFLN he was the guy with all the inside info. Now he seems to speculate a bit or maybe he is just being used as a puppet by teams now that he has a modicum of respect and reliability. There's just no way Russell is anywhere on our radar unless it is a smokescreen for draft purposes.

Re: Redskins Sign Todd Wade to 2 year deal
Why do people think that he is being over paid as a back up? First, he did a great job filling in for Jansen last year. In fact I don't think that he gave up a sack or even a hurry in that game that he started. Second, he knows the system, much easier for him to step in and the line not miss a beat should, God for bid, Jansen or Samuels go down for a few games. Third, what would you rather do? Let him go and bring in a guy that is totaly new to the system and you are not sure of what you got until a starter goes down to only then find out that you should have kept Wade for 2 years at 6.2million, but instead you got a guy who is usless and can't protect a cup of piss...

Why do we assume he is a backup?
Also JLC says it is not a done deal yet. I trust JLC over schefter. Todd Wade - It's Getting Close - Redskins Insider |

Re: Redskins Sign Todd Wade to 2 year deal
This would make me really happy. 3 mil a year for your top backup OL (or perhaps starting guard) is entirely reasonable. People on this site seem to be OBSESSED with signing everyone for "vet minimum"...and if we dont do that its a horrible signing. Fellas (and hess :-P), no starter or top backup plays for vet minimum...and if they do youre getting exactly that, a vet with minimum talent.
As for Jamarcus Russell, I cant imagine this is even worth following...but hey, Ive been wrong before. |

Re: Redskins Sign Todd Wade to 2 year deal
There is only a 2 inch difference between Wade and Dockery, plus Wade is about 20lbs lighter that Dockery which might make gettin low for leverage a bit easier for Wade...

Re: Redskins Sign Todd Wade to 2 year deal
2 inches can make a lot of difference. if we do use him at guard i hope he will be a success, im just not sold on it by any means

Re: Redskins Sign Todd Wade to 2 year deal
You might be right, after looking it looks like most guards are about 6'2" to 6'6" in that range. Either way I think that having Wade on the team for OL depth is good. And besides that Jansen isn't getting any younger. I am not insinuating that Wade start over Jansen, but I am saying that haveing Wade on the bench waiting to be used incase of an injury seems to me to be a good thing...

Re: Redskins Sign Todd Wade to 2 year deal
Here is my take on Wade vs Dockery. I don't believe we will see any let down if he [Wade] is the starting guard! I think his pass blocking will be the same as Dock but Wade will be a better pull blocker the Dockery! Dock might be a little better in power blocking but that might be the same as well!
