Re: Gaines Adams: Dream Come True, being a REDSKIN
I may have missed this, but with Adams, Williams would have another guy that he could be versitle with. He could blitz off the corners and drop Adams into coverage on a TE or RB. Knowing Williams fondness for athleticism, I wouldn't be suprised if he has devised a cunning plan to see if Adams is truely a savage beast. A freak that will fit his system.
I hope he isn't overthinking it.

FOX Sports - NFL Draft - Who did the combine help, hurt?
Looks like if the draft was today, we might just get at least one of the guys we NEED. Come on friday, be suprised if we don't see some new names on the rooster.

Redskins Target Fletcher - washingtonpost.com
According to the WP, the Redskins were unimpressed with Gaines at the combine and intrigued, but not overwhelmed by Branch/ After being unimpressed with Clemson's Gaines Adams and intrigued but not overwhelmed by Michigan defensive tackle Alan Branch -- though sources said the team liked its non-workout meeting with Arkansas defensive end Jamaal Anderson -- sources at the NFL scouting combine last week said the Redskins were deeply interested in former Virginia defensive end Patrick Kerney, an eight-year veteran who has played his entire career with Atlanta. |

I wonder why they were unimpressed by Adams.

Re: Gaines Adams: Dream Come True, being a REDSKIN
I'm thinking it must be something that came up in an interview or brief conversation. Wasn't there talk of him not being very confident in himself?

Re: Gaines Adams: Dream Come True, being a REDSKIN
People at the Senior Bowl said that he didn't appear confident. I didn't hear anything about how he appeared at the Combine. The only other knock(s) that I can think of are: (1) that he didn't participate in the bench press; (2) his interview didn't go well; and/or (3) they didn't think that he would fit well in our 4-3 alignment. I say that those could be the only knocks because, by all accounts, he performed exceeding well in the 40, the shuttle, and cone drills and generally appeared quick and agile in drills.

Re: Gaines Adams: Dream Come True, being a REDSKIN
Adams is not a good fit for us we need a strong side end who can rush the QB, from what I have heard Anderson makes the most sense, we can't go into the season with 2 DE's who can't hold the line of attack, he may be a better pass rusher than Carter but do we give up on Carter for another undersized end? I can't see Carter being able to play the strong side teams will run right over him, well they already do that but we don't need that on both ends.
I have a strong feeling if we don't trade down it will be Anderson hands down. I just don't feel Branch dominated in college like a player of his size should have, Branch has all the measurables but IMO he doesn't have the body of work to back it up, couple that with the whispers that he's a little lazy? No thanks, I am not taking a chance on the possibility of the second coming of big daddy with the 6th pick! |
