I dont think it's all luck. I know you guys want to tell yourselfs that being that you started mike rumph (are you serious) for part of the year.
It's time to play everyones favorite game, "Which Player Doesn't Belong!!!" I'm your host GTripp, and now lets introduce you to our contestants today!

Seriously though, I think there is one player on that list thats very unlikely to be up there with those guys again. Two actually. Harris and Woodson.

On a completely unrelated note, welcome to the boards!

Hell forget the question of switching Wright for Harris, what makes Rogers better than Harris? At least Harris can catch a ball that hits him in the hands.
We needed the cap room. Bad.

Harris could have started here after Springs went down...Oh well. He wasn't better than Wright in 05, and he is awful against double moves, but with all the pass rush we got this year that wouldn't have hurt us, right?

Yup and he looked awful. He missed a ton of tackles, got burnt on double moves and on go routes by anyone faster than an offensive lineman. He looked absolutely silly in a game against the Eagles at FedEx (anyone remember that?). You, however, probably were not watching him last year, that is unless you are a closet Redskins fan.

But it's not like Wright was a nobody. Plus, if I remember right, Harris (who, as mentioned, had a less than impressive 2005 season) left before we signed Wright and for the double the money we signed Wright to. So it's possible maybe, just maybe, that Wright just wanted to go. And it wasn't worth it to fight to keep him.

I don't know. I mean like I've said the move made perfect sense at the time but sometimes things just backfire. It's not a bad decision, just unfortunate results

Re: Walt Harris to the Pro Bowl

As a niner fan who lives in dc there is one thing I think we can all agree on................ Mike rumph sucks! Everyone here keeps talking about wright, when in reality you should be focusing on how the depth of wright and harris would have been nice so rumph would have never seen the field. From a guy that watched every niner game and a handful of redskins games, Walt Harris was by far the 49ers best db last year(not saying a whole lot) and you definately could have used him.

P.S. I dont want to be trolling too hard but thanks for the B lloyd trade!

At this moment, they look like they are in better shape than us for next year.

That being said, I think that G-dub is going to put a top 10 defense on the field next year. It may sound crazy now but what if someone said that we would have a top 3 D after the '03 campaign.

Did we really need it at the time? I thought we had about 3 million in space the whole year.

Anyway, it is too late to do anything about it now. Harris may make the Pro-bowl because he made plays this year but no one is afraid to throw at him and San Fran's D isn't exactly intimidating.

I wished we had that production here by Harris, or someone. Anyone.

I have a theory that a free agent's first year with a team is the toughest. Transition; adjustment; learning the system and all that. This year, I'm going to look at a free agent's stats from last year and discount it by a third. That's what I will expect from them in '07.

Curb your enthusiasm for those big signings of Freeney, Samuels or {fill in the blank}.

You're right I didn't watch him last year. Maybe he was terrible I don't know, but you typed 2006 campaign (that would be THIS year) and this year he was fantastic.

Ooops, my bad man. I meant the 2005 campaign. He looked awful in 2005 and, I suppose, did a heck of a job this year. Hey, you guys I guess were smart enough to see talent where we didn't. Gotta give your office credit for being smart and/or lucky.

The problem is that the Redskins FO does get the benefit of the doubt because they almost always make the wrong decision. The track record of the FO in the Snyder years is pretty dreadful. It has been like a perfect storm of bad decisions - get rid of solid players who know the system (they then go on to be pro bowlers elsewhere) and bring in overpriced players who underperform.

Re: Walt Harris to the Pro Bowl

Harris was not solid...I remember cursing his name every single game in 05, and Wright looked like a steal. A former starter from a playoff team brought in to play the nickel...come on...you would have to be a fortune teller to see this one coming. Clark was the one the front office bungled. Now lets all just hope the FO has the common sense to go after him or Smoot should either hit the market
