This is so true. If I remember correctly against the Giants before halftime Tiki reeled off a 15 yard run and the only playmaker on our defense, Mr. Taylor, ripped the ball from Tiki's arms. 15 yards down field and no redskins defenders were around to jump on the ball. Unreal, its the first thing they teach you in pee wee, get to the ball. We don't hussle to the ball at all. If we would swarm and be in the right places we would be more successful defensively.

Are people really nostalgic for Charley Casserly? The architect of the famous Houstan Texans juggernaut? I think people might be mistaking the ass-end of Bobby Beathard's reign as part of CC's legacy. I don't remember CC having much luck with draft picks at all.

Yeah, I agree there. I think a lot of people are lumping the two together.

they're a slow secondary beyond whatever other troubles they may be having. speed can also let you correct some mistakes.

and trading down would or wouldn't make sense depending on our draft position and the players available. right now it's too early to tell.

Charley is better than ayone we have now. What the hell has Vinny done besides be Dan's butt buddy? All Vinny does is sniff Dan's ass. Believe it or not Charley did help bring in talent on the Super Bowl teams under Bobby B. That being said he would not be my 1st choice. But I think Dan could bring him back as a consultant. He likes to add more people on the payroll.

How are they slow? Springs, maybe but he used to be a burner. Taylor 4.5, Archuletta and Rogers run 4.4's.

wright is a 4.6 guy and rumph probably is too. carlos ran a 4.44, which isn't a burner when you have CBs running under 4.2 and WRs around 4.3. springs is probably the fastest guy in the secondary right now. and it doesn't matter what arch ran, when the pads are on, everyone and their brother is blowing right by him play after play after play.

In an interview Rumph said he was a 4.4/4.5 guy (now he very well could have lost a step).

Dude, 4.2 and 4.3 speed is very very rare and half of the guys who can do it can't catch a cold.

Our guys aren't getting torched down the field, they are in poor position when the ball arrives. So they either get toasted or grab the guy. And when they actually cover the play well, they drop it.

4.3 isn't THAT rare, and rumph's official time (2002) was a 4.47, which isn't great. The bigger problem, of course, is that he can't play.

While I disagree to the fact that speed is over-rated, I think it makes a difference...

I will agree completley with the fact our guys are totally out of position. Everytime I see a guy well covered, but our CB,S,LB, whathaveyou, staring them directly in the face instead of going for the ball makes me want to kill myself. I dont know if that slows them down by turning around(this is where the speed I think makes a difference), but that is just basic stuff. If one guy is looking for the ball and one guy isnt, chances are the guy that is looking for the ball is going ot come up with it.

Casserly could do it. Wonder if Danny could throw him a few million, make him forget about the past?

ahhhh...someone with brains in their head. I am glad i am not the only one who sees a need for a real general manager. not a danny flunkey like cerrato and not gibbs making personal decisions. Our front office system has a fatal flaw. throwing millions at has beens, except ARE, isnt the answer.
