It's true, money doesn't buy happiness, unless this is some sick, twisted way to get back into the news, which really could be possible for this egomaniac. There's probably a reason he brags so much, because he's insecure. It's VERY possible. Many times, the people who appear to be the happiest and most successful people are hurting the most inside. He does have an incredibly inflated ego, it almost has to be artificial. If he was just looking for media attention, it worked. I hope he gets help if he truly needs it though. Strange story. As for the report on TSG, many police cars now use laptops to take reports rather than paper forms. The cop may scribble some notes onto a notepad but then will enter the report into the laptop when he gets back to the car. TSG has always been reliable and it doesn't have to be written in pen to be an official report. Notice it does say "NARRATIVE 01 SCREEN" on the top. It's an automated report. |

During the game against the Packers when he was with the Niners he had dropped numerous balls. He kept going back to Steve Young and begging him to not lose confidence in him. Finally when he caught the game winning TD he broke into tears and for the next several years thanked Steve Young every day for not losing confidence in him. I repeat: He was so insecure that he thanked Steve Young EVERY DAY FOR 3 years or something like that. |

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
Reports are that Owens is scheduling a press conference in a couple of hours and he is expected to explain things.
But even IF it was a misunderstanding and he really DID not attempt suicide. If it is proven that he did take MORE than the prescribed amount of the pain meds, HE COULD BE SUBJECT TO THE NFL SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM. In other words, if the suicide subject is put to rest there is still the real possibility that he could face a SUSPENSION by the league for substance abuse. Even if he manages to clear this suicide thing up, he will still have a lot of explaining to do to the league. |

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
I don't see how this reflects on the Boys at all. Stuff like this has never been even remotely an issue with him. If you want to fault them there are plenty of other reasons but for crissake realize that clearly there is something a little more important going on here. They guy is a world class douchebag. There is no one who would dent that. But he is also a human being who does charity work among some other positive things. I hope this is just a blip on the psychological radar and we can go back to bashing him fairly for things that aren't as important.

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
I have to admit the only reason I even care about this story is the fantasy implications on my team.
I'm not saying I wish the man harm, but I really can't believe the gushing I'm seeing over this guy. I mean, this is the same guy that has caused nothing but problems for any franchise stupid enough to give him a contract right? This is the same guy who called his QB (Garcia) gay right? The same guy that routinely shows up his QBs on the field? The same guy that called out McNabb (a "teammate")? The same guy that has been a locker room cancer everywhere he's been? Honestly, I just don't see any reason why I should care about T.O. any more than the thousands of other people in this world that try committing suicide every day. If anything, shouldn't I care less about T.O.? After all, T.O. has proven time and time again that he's a jackass. I don't know, I guess I'm just a heartless bastard.

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
Yah, a human who in his "human" capacity has been a jackass for years. I guess his transgressions against other "humans" are all forgiven because of this?

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
The people who project themselves as the most happy, comfortable, and confident are very often the ones that are hiding insecurities; just because T.O. is a football player doesn't mean it's any different. I still don't see why so many people hold a grudge. This whole idea that since he has amazing ability, he should use it and not waste it or do whatever he wants with it. I guess T.O. isn't a real person. He's just a robot that should go out on the field regardless of what he's thinking and play football, whether he enjoys it or not.
Just remember this sort of thing happens every day: an individual that appears so confident or egotistical, who appears so happy with his life, who seems like nothing can hurt it, can be totally crying on the inside. Evaluate that with other people that you might hate who seem that way, and maybe you can see how sad it all is. WE as people always look at Celebrities and throw away any thoughts of their well being. I do it all the time. I mean really, how many times do you take the time to really consider Russel Crowe's mental health? Or how about Darrell Green's? Its almost an assumption |

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide
The story grows, and is now in SI:
SI.com - NFL - Terrell Owens attempted suicide, according to police report - Wednesday September 27, 2006 11:25AM I prefer to believe no one here wished this on T. O. It appears from these reports that the man needs help.
