Re: Tom Brady/Balco Connection

I guess it's interesting, but there really isn't much to it. I wish they said who contacted who. If Brady called Anderson I think that is sort of fishy (but not illegal or anything), but if it was the other way around I don't think it means anything.
I doubt much will come of this.

Re: Tom Brady/Balco Connection

I probably should have elaborated a little more on what I meant by interesting.

~There appears to be smoke -- that does not mean fire.
~Not real consistant w/ TBs image. He is no Barry Bonds.
~This should be ANOTHER warning to many -- those within the NFL and fans -- there is no reason to think that the NFL is not going to get caught up in some performance enhancing drug scandals.

I completely agree with all those points. You'd have to be insane to imagine that none of these 6'5'' 280lb guys could run 4.5 40s w/o at least a handful of them juicing.

WAIT! I just thought of something.

Maybe this is just the Bay Area's way of getting back at Brady for the "tuck rule" game.

The NFL is flooded with juice heads, doing performance inhancing drugs in the NFL is no different for them than putting on a helmit.

But I do not believe Brady has anything to do with them.

I completely disagree that the majority of players are juicing. Football players go through a ridiculous training schedule, that is far more intense than any other american sport, so obviously they're going to be bigger and stronger that 99% of the population. I'm sure many of them use legal supplements, but steroid use by NFL players is nowhere near the level it is for baseball players.

NFL substance abuse punishments are also far more harsh than other sports. To the league office, skipping a test is the same thing as a positive test, and the first strike is a quarter of a season suspension. The next strike is a full season, and a lifetime ban after that. You can't test positive twenty times and still have a career, like you can in baseball and basketball.

There is no connection. There is reputed to be one phone call with a principal in that case. It's meaningless.

I agree in general but the whole rafael palmeiro thing kinda through me off. He never look particurally muscular. Also alot of the roid use apparently is for healing or at least the subjective feeling of being 100% for the next game.

I do however doubt Tom Brady is a roido.

You greatly misunderstand this issue, there is by far, more roids or should I say growth hormones in the NFL than in any other sport, you cannot maintain the body weight and muscle mass with what you have described as a ridiculous training regimin, the matabolism wont allow it especially at the young ages of most of these players, there is no way to maintain that weight through the season without illegal help.

As for drug testing? Do you understand what is going on in baseball? Most of these guy's are not being caught because no one know's how to test for these different muscle enhancers, what do you think this Balco case is all about? It's all word of mouth, these players can continue to do it because they will never test positive because the drug is undetectable.

The body puts out growth hormones naturally, but everyone puts out a different amount, so nobody can be judged on a standard level, so they raise the level so high that everyone comes in under the test level if it can be detected at all.

Bottom line if anyone thinks that the higharchey of MLB, or the NFL want's performance enhancing drugs out, I have a bridge over here in Jersey I would like to sell you. Higher performance means a higher quality product, which means more money in everyones pocket.

Re: Tom Brady/Balco Connection

This is stupid and had nothing to do with Balco.
Brady was on the west coast and needed a place to work out.
Someone recommended Anderson's gym so he gave him a call.
Anderson wasn't available and Brady didn't pursue.
So now there's a connection? That's absolutely ridiculous.

Re: Tom Brady/Balco Connection

I think it's safe to say there is a fair amount, not the majority, of NFL players using roids. However, nothing like you have/had in baseball. I think if what the punter from the Panthers was juicing then other players at other positions are doing something as well.

Re: Tom Brady/Balco Connection

I agree there are plenty of players taking undetectable performance enhancing drugs in the NFL. Chemists stay one step ahead of the detection tests. Balco and Barry just got caught because somebody squeeled on them, not becuase a steriods detection test caught them .
I had teamates on my highschool team take steriods. Don't you think a players making millions of dollars have more incentive to take them than high school players?
