The WR battle is definitely the most intriguing to me as well. Seeing Jacobs in the minicamps this spring really got me juiced to see how he performs during the preseason games. McCants was nursing a shoulder injury through most of the minicamps, so Gibbs was pretty much going on what he had seen of McCants in the filmroom, but it's obvious he really likes what he saw. He also really seems to like Jacobs, and loves Thrash's veteran demeanor and work ethic.
As far as I'm concerned, Coles is really the only guy whose position on the depth chart is secure. I'm pretty confident McCants, Jacobs and Thrash will all give Gardner a pretty good run for his money, and hopefully the intensity of the competition will elevate the level of play for all involved-- including Gardner. This could be just the nudge Gardner needs to take his game to the next level. None of the other competitions, outside of the one for QB, get me as pumped about the preseason as this one does. |

I dont know if any of yoru watched this, although ims ure a lot of you remember it. But I was watching the 91 season on the NFL channel yesterday, and it was so awesome seeing how no team could match up aganist the posse. I feel we have another great chance to have that same type of threat. Except it doesnt have to be just three, we can rotate people and always have fresh legs on the field. If anything the best part might be having teams respect us enough to leave coles in single coverage.

Gardner will have to step up this year and put up better numbers than last year. With most of the focus being on our running game and Portis.....it's going to be interesting to see how our passing attack pans out. |

Does anyone remember that Gardner was a 1,000 yard reciever not too long ago and has been in a flawed system. The guy is good and will flourish in Gibbs system. He has been one of the best #1 picked wideouts in that year's draft, he's young and it's too early to give up on him. Show some support.

I don't think anyone has necessarily given up on him. It's just expectations this year are high. I believe that he will flourish, but we have to wait and see. He's got all the tools. No one is doubting him at all. At least I'm not.

I'm kinda doubting him cuz I've seen him have the case of the dropsies at too many important times. Plus I'd rather him just have a solid year so he doesn't try to ask for Coles type money, which I remember him saying he'd hope he could get when it came for him to sign another contract after the team signed Coles.

True, but I doubt he'll put up numbers like Coles.

coles is simply amazing when he's healthy, I have no idea why the jets would ever let him leave he doesn't even have that nasty WR ego that every other #1 seems to have... maybe someone needs to tell those other guys to shut up cause this isn't the nba.

I am also looking forward to the WR battle. Like the QB battle, it is a win-win situation as far as I'm concerned. McCants has proven that he be that big posession guy, especially in the red zone, Thrash is a hard worker that has proven that he can be a decent starter if needed, and Jacobs is the most unproven, but it seems that he is actually the most talented of the three. It will be quite interesting, and I also expect them to be pushing for Gardner's spot too....which hopefully will make him step it up as well.

I think Betts and the Rock are going to have a pretty good war over the 2nd HB spot.
