989 Quarterback Challenge

I caught it on cbs today (5-6pm, tomorrow (the 18th) it continues from 2-3pm)... Brunell finished 4th in both mobility and accuracy, and is 5th overall. Not too bad, and I enjoyed the show... kinda wish there were more of these contests.

Any one else see it and have any thoughts about it?

You know... I hadn't heard Bruneel in many interviews before and didn't really know his personality type. But after watching him today and listening to him talk... he seems like he has that same personality as a Jim Kelly, Boomer Esiason, John Elway had towards the end of their careers. You could tell he is a veteran who been there and done that and won't make mistakes that loses you games.

I like the way he came off today.. although he cracked that he "didn't look good in burgundy." Of course he DID follow that comment up with "but I'm getting used to it." But he seems like a really good veteran leader and a guy Ramsey will benefit GREATLY from being around.

matt hassleback is in the lead by a good bit... boomer mentioned how he proved that he was worth the 1st round pick, and matt said something like "it wasn't a 1st round, i think i traded for like, a pack of gatorade"

brunell came off really well, they asked all the QBs their favorite QBs RBs and WRs not on their team, and he picked fred taylor and jimmy smith, so they told him he couldn't pick jags either... he and hassleback came off the best i think, and I see why he's thought of as such a good guy.

for the accuracy, you're last ball can be to a real WR instead of golf cart targets... but i thought the points for the WR (which is probably an easier target) were way too high... it gave a couple guys 36 extra points, which creates too much of a gap.

I didn't even know they did those anymore. this sucks cuz I always liked watching the qb challenge especially the long ball contest when bledsoe and cunningham rocketed the ball freaking 70+ yards. it'd be kewl to see ramsey, culpepper, and vick have a long ball contest, lol.

I saw it. Although it was not the real thing such as a game, it was nice just to see players through the ball around. Brunell also looked good in a Skins uni.

Well it looks like Brunell finished 5th. I saw the no-huddle challenge, basically a two-minute drill down the field. He looked really bad on the shorter passes, especially the curl. Seriously overthrew his receivers, but he settled down on the deep routes

hasslebeck won it all (except the long throw, which he thoroughly sucked at), brunell look good except on the no huddle, where he overthrew a lot... would've liked to watch ramsey in the long throw... in his interview he said he can hit 76 yards or so (palmer won with 65 yds).

btw, boldin looked great, he always had his feet set for higher points/in bounds, did some one handed catches etc... if the cards can't get 2500 yards between him and fitzgerald, i'd be shocked...

Looks like CIN finally redid their uniforms. They look hot. I especially like the white (away) jerseys.

Boldin looked awesome but I wasn't impressed by McCown at all.

McCown has some talent, but he is definitely a project. Denny Green just said that because he wanted fitz!

I saw the long ball and the no-huddle. Brunell tossed the ball pretty far, but he was horrid with the 2 minute drill. Hope he plays like that in camp so he can backup a real QB!
