Re: Marcus Vick & The Draft

How tall is Marcus? I watch him play and can't help but think he looks awfully small for the NFL. 6th or 7th round, maybe. More likely it's off to Canada or Europe or the back of Mike's limo waiting for the Falcons game to end.

By the way, I wonder what would happen if he stepped on Joe Salavea's arm?

If he stepped on Salavea's arm, he would be even smaller.

What I have to say though is "Thank you Frank Beamer! Thank you for putting your neck out there to say that no one person is bigger than the game." It seems that we've had way too many prima donnas in recent years who thought that they could pretty much do whatever they wanted and come back to open arms in the locker room. Enough is enough. I'll buy Frank and Andy Reid a beer any day.

You can't be serious. Jeff George is the only person on that list even close to Vick. Couch and Pennington are a few steps behind. Beyond that, you are basically listing outstanding college players who never developed into decent NFL players. None of those guys have been called "the prototype for the future of their position."

Vick is by far the most overrated.

Re: Marcus Vick & The Draft

Man, there seems to be a lot of meatheaditis running around right now, Fred Smoot, Marcus Vick...

Check out this guy's rap sheet, what a dope

Sept. 2, 2003: Suspended for one game by coach Frank Beamer for undisclosed reason.
Feb. 17, 2004: Arrested without incident and charged with four misdemeanors -- three for allegedly allowing underage girls to have alcohol and one for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old at a January party. Released on $2,500 bond.
May 14, 2004: Convicted of three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $2,250. Found not guilty of having sex with the 15-year-old.
July 3, 2004: Charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop about 25 miles east of Richmond, Va. at 2:30 a.m. Police said he was clocked at 86 mph, 21 mph above the speed limit, and that the vehicle smelled of marijuana.
July 6, 2004: Indefinitely suspended from football team for off-field problems.
Aug. 3, 2004: Suspended from the university for the 2004 season on same day he pleads guilty to reckless driving and no contest to marijuana possession in New Kent, Va. Is fined $300, has driver's license suspended for 60 days and is placed in a first offender program on the marijuana charge, requiring that he perform 24 hours of community service, undergo drug counseling and random drug tests, and give up his driver's license for six months.
Sept. 13, 2004: In plea deal, pleads no contest to one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Receives 30-day suspended jail sentence, is fined $100, ordered to perform 24 hours of community service and stay away from the teenage girls.
Jan. 17, 2005: Cleared to rejoin football team and re-enroll at Virginia Tech.
Oct. 1, 2005: Leads No. 3 Hokies to 34-20 victory at West Virginia, and makes obscene gesture to fans who have been calling him names related to past problems throughout the game. He apologized a day later.
Dec. 17, 2005: Pulled over by police in Hampton, Va. for driving 38 mph in a 25 mph zone and driving with a suspended license.
Jan. 2, 2006: Leads Virginia Tech to a 35-24 win over Louisville in Gator Bowl. In the game, he stomped on the left calf of Cardinals All-American defensive end Elvis Dumervil, the NCAA sacks leader. Claims the incident was accidental and that he apologized to Dumervil, who denies ever receiving apology.
Jan 6, 2006: Is kicked off team at Virginia Tech for legal trouble and unsportsmanlike conduct in Gator Bowl.

Re: Marcus Vick & The Draft

Hey guys, as someone, who lives the area of Vicks, Newport News, VA. I have seen this kid Marcus play, and many have said it well before all this. Marcus could be better than his brother. The fact that he let this fame go to his head, doesnt mean the kid doesnt have talent. trust me I dont care for his antics anymore than anyone, but I call a spade a spade. I bet Micheal will yank his brother in line soon and straighten him up. I bet he goes pretty fast in the draft, probably not the highest becasue fo people scared of his immaturity, but does go because of his talent.

Micheal Vick overated?? Come on his team sucked, a QB cant carry a whole team. Put Vick in any other decent foothball team with good receivers and you would have a team like the Longhorns in the Rose Bowl.

Atleast brother Micheal is overrated, but not as bad as Marcus. Micheal learned and changed, and we all know even though he is overrated, he respects and understands his role. Obviously his brother did not pick that up. I wish there were some way to ban this asshole from the NFL.

Re: Marcus Vick & The Draft

Marcus is way more accurate in his throwing. He sticks in the pocket alot longer then his brother. Give him a few years as a back up under a good qb coach and i think he will be one of the best. I say he will end up in Arizona. 2nd round

Re: Marcus Vick & The Draft

There's another thing that the Vicks have in common, both of them have reportedly slept with half the girls at V-Tech, but that's another story. The kid has some talent but so did Tim Couch and others and they never panned out. More and more these days teams want guys with character and heart, what good does talent do your team if the guy is an asshole. Look what T.O. did to the Eagles chemistry in spite of his talent. The best thing for this kid would be for the Falcons to take him in the 6th or 7th round so Michael can try to set him straight. I wouldn't be surprised if Denny Green took him though. I'll laugh if the Cowboys take him. Then they can sign T.O. and once again be the thugs that we've come to know.

How do the Chargers look right about now - they make that trade with the Falcons and they get LT and Brees and the Falcons are stuck with Mr. Overrated.

I don't give any credit to Frank Beamer though, Vick's ass should have been thrown off the team 2 years ago. That or he shouldn't have been recruited by Beamer at all. Look at that rap sheet, I'll be looking for dude on the next episode of "COPS". Very convenient to kick him off the team now that the season is over and Beamer has another bowl win under his belt. If this had been the 2nd game of the season, I guarantee you Vick wouldn't have even been suspended. Don't forget Beamer also recruited Jim Druckenmiller way back when. Bobby Bowden has the same M.O. with the Criminoles, recruit talent beacuse that leads to bowl wins, and turn the other cheek when one of your players gets in trouble, sweep it under the rug and hope it goes away in the interest of winning games rather than do the morally right thing and send a message to the rest of the team that bad behavior won't be tolerated. You know for sure the Patriots won't be drafting his ass.

Thats right.....so live with it....and all those guys got one thing in common....

Re: Marcus Vick & The Draft

sportscenter said that when marcus was asked about his dismissal, he replied

something to the effect of

its no big deal, see you at the next level baby

what a fricken tool. i am a student at tech, and i have seen him play live several times. he is a good player, who has done nothing in big games, i.e. florida state and miami, and he is just a straight up douche bag

Re: Marcus Vick & The Draft

This guy may go on to NFL greatness, but I don't want him on my team. If this season has reminded Redskins fans of anything, it's that character counts.

And hooskins, I would dispute the notion that Michael has learned and changed. He got into pissing matches with the media this year because some writers questioned his passing ability. He is still the subject of a lawsuit that says he reecklessly gave a woman genital herpes while using an alias.

After his suspension from the Hokies two years ago, Marcus Vick moved in with his brother to do some growing up. I'm afraid he learned the wrong lessons - that his amazing ability made him above the rules of the game, and the rules of society.

No worries Gibbs would never take him.
