Not necessarily every year, but you should be drafting them all the time.

Ideally, you get your franchise guy that is there for 5-10 years and you draft good depth in the later rounds and coach them up. Then if you have your franchise guy still, you can trade him for a better pick, rinse and repeat.

Obviously you are going to miss on most guys, so that is why you have to keep drafting.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz

I was thinking about compensation for Wentz and next year hopefully 2nd round pick going to Colts…we should probably receive a high comp pick for Schreff and potentially a large Settle contract.

Fair enough - but just about every year. I'm not going two straight years w/ out drafting one.

Also another thing, these fucking guys are such pussies these days, we are raising bitches unfortunately. Carson Wentz is a prime example of his ego was so bruised by Hurts being drafted…it’s put his career in jeopardy and why he is here. So it’s another thing to consider when drafting a QB often.
If you're a baller why would you worry and get your feelings hurt over a QB like Jalen Hurts?

Rodgers was certainly pissed about Love but only cause he wanted more talent around him. He wasn't worried one damn bit about the competition.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz

Let's say for the sake of argument that Ridder or Strong or someone they like falls to the 2nd round. What do you do?

I'd take either in the 2nd and tell Carson to suck on a lemon if he doesn't like it. This is the NFL. Someone will always want your spot. Don't let them take that shit.

Wentz/Carson or Ridder >>>>>>> Fitzpatrick/Heinicke/Allen

Although its unfortunate Fitz didn't get to play the season out. Moreso based on age I'd rather have Wentz than him.

This is what I'm saying. You have to take that guy. What happens if Wentz turns his knee again? You trotting noodle arm back out there? You have to keep trying to upgrade the position. This is a one year prove it deal for Wentz. If it doesn't work then this time next year you got nothing.

I mean there's also the scenario in which they don't particularly like any of the QBs outside of the top 3. Carson being on a prove-it deal leads to a scenario where you see how this year goes and draft a QB in what most view as a much better class next year. You spend the draft capital on other needs or just grab BPA regardless.

Personally, I'm okay with either scenario.

Looking like Ertz is a real possibility too

I don't think either of them make it to us unfortunately. I seem Ridder going in round 1 and Carson going ahead of us in round 2.

Carson is underrated by everyone imo.

“Deshaun Watson made it clear he would not waive his no trade clause for a number of teams and Washington was one”

JLC

So like we all assumed , Watson was never a possibility

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz

The most telling thing about this trade is that Indy has NO QB in building.

The Colts would rather have NO QB than have Wentz there another minute.

We are so fucked.

They have options and in order for them to exercise those options they needed to unload Wentz, now if they start Sam Ehlinger week one, ok i agree with you but lets see what happens with them.

I watched the Hard Knocks, in season, it was actually pretty good. I hope they do another in season much more enjoyable.

Anywho, I mean if you can watch that and decide that Wentz was the Colts problem, i like to hear your argument. Even most talking heads are scratching their heads more with WTF is Indy going to do vs. the Commanders are fawked with this guy Carson.

Wife is a Colts fan so we watchd all the games last year, especially the last one vs the Jags.

Wentz is awful, he is a me first guy and his play reflects that.

The Colts have ZERO top QB options, they'll end up with Fitz maybe but they got better and we 100% just got worse.

Not sure ehat I expectEd really. We are a shit franchise, have been for 20+ years and will never be relevant while myself and Daniel Snyder are alive.
