Re: Ron Rivera Thread

Starting to get the feeling that, for whatever reason, Rivera has determined KOC is not the guy to run the offense. I am fine with that if that is the case, it is his team to run.

I wonder who could possibly be involved in the playoffs who would make for a good OC that would leave their current team?

+1

I think if KOC had interviewed and impressed Rivera the hire would've been announced already.

The longer this goes the higher the odds KOC is leaving.

I'm fine with it as long as pick someone in tune with today's NFL. If he brings in some old retread who has put up underwhelming stats somewhere else I'm gonna be uninspired.

Re: Ron Rivera Thread

I haven't posted much in the last few months, but this has certainly awaken my interests. Let me start by saying that I live in Panther territory, so it's almost impossible to not keep up with the Carolina Panthers. I will tell you, I have always wanted Ron Rivera as a coach. He turned the Panthers around in just a couple of seasons - a team that was 2-14! No reason why he can't do it in Washington, IMO.

So, I'm on cloud nine right now! Bruce Allen being fired, and now, Ron Rivera being hired. Guys, we are on the right track! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

My hunch is that KOC wants to be OC under Josh McDaniels wherever he goes this year and therefore he is not "interviewing" well to hold out.

What connections make you think of that scenario?

He might if (a) he got to have a say in who his assistants are, (b) the talent in the new place was good, and/or (c) he is tired of the dysfunction he has been a part of in Washington.

At best McDaniels is going to Carolina, more likely he is going to the Browns.

For me, I can't see doing purposefully bad on an interview, you can always be offered the job and aay no, but to not get it offered and lose control of your future seems unlikely to me.

I don't really mean throwing the interview so much as sharing your opinions more than you would if you didn't feel like you had realistic alternatives (or even another unofficial offer).

Re: Ron Rivera Thread

Whether or not KOC is chosen by Ron Rivera to be his OC means little to me. How could any of us possibly know who would work well with RR?

I want Ron Rivera to have the coaches he wants and the players he wants, period. If he gets to run the show his way, that gives him the best chance to succeed here. I just want to win!

We should be applauding the fact that RR has the autonomy to make the moves that he’s making. No more forcing assistants on the HC.
