He was a first round pick and unfortunately that's enough.

Re: What kind of production does Doctson need in 2019 to stay with on them team ?
I think the reality is that Doctson will likely be gone next year no matter what. Either he does poorly and we move on. Or he does well and we aren't likely to pay him what he might get on the open market and he leaves. I do not imagine that we'll pay a lot with 1 strong season in 4, and another team may be more willing to take that gamble. I also suspect that most players are disinclined to stick around when teams do not exercise the option, and so he's eyes will be on the door anyway.

Doctson's one year wonder will occur this year....he's Michael Westbrook 2.0....Westbrook was also a 1st round pick and a WR and he only had one good year (1999)....

If he produced at 1999 Westbrook level this year that be pretty damn good for us and he would earn himself a nice payday
I don't see it happening though |

"I think I'm hitting free agency next year. I won't be the first, won't be the last," he said. "It's nothing to be sad about, be mad about. Someone wants you there, so it's all love." So.. Is he even going to make the team? LMAO.

Yeah during OTA's when he said "I don't have to prove anything" was alarming and now it just appears that he is soft as tissue and doesn't really love the game. Another wasted first rd pick on a WR

Re: What kind of production does Doctson need in 2019 to stay with on them team ?
I think Doc is one of those guys that plays football cause he's good at it, Westbrook was that way. He's good enough to play very well in college but not good enough to be a good, consistent NFL wr. He doesn't have the fire in his belly ( stealing a line from Bruce) to be a great player. However I do believe that if he goes to another team with an established QB and better staff that his production would improve.

Re: What kind of production does Doctson need in 2019 to stay with on them team ?
Might be right about the work ethic. Even if he busted his tail though I still think he'd have a ceiling because he's just not sudden enough with his breaks to separate from DBs at this level. His athleticism was enough in the defensively challenged Big 12. Not enough here.

With quotes like that who knows if he even makes the final 53. What's his cap hit for this year?
If I had to guess I'd say he sticks but only because they might need him if/when injuries happen. |
