I wonder if we are asking about someone like Joe Woods because that is something someone like Todd Bowles wants.

I doubt it. All signs point to Bowles in Tampa bay. He’d be playing with a coach he’s worked for before and have better job security given he’d be starting time as Arians. If he came here, it could be for just one year since Gruden is likely gone if things don’t turn around. And if the HC goes, everyone could go. Tampa bay was also even worse defensively this year, so expectations would also be lower there. Here, the skins are already a middle of the pack defense, so he’d basically have one year to really make this unit elite or he’d be out looking for a job again.

Per Reports

Torian Gray has been let go as DB Coach

Now maybe Manusky isn't safe after all

Once you start "talking to" other potential DCs, you might as well just go ahead and fire yours. Even if we don't want to make a long term commitment, just fire Manusky and promote Tomsula.

Good for Torian, glad he has a chance to go work for a real organization.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.

Torian was too much of a college coach and too much of a buddy to the guys he had coached at Tech. Would've been nice to have Bowles coaching the DBs for a year or two while he waits for another coordinator job either with the Redskins or elsewhere.

Why would bowles walk away from a DC position in Tampa bay to become a DBs coach in Washington? That’s like turning down an executive position with GE to Work the cash register at Sears.

Gregg Williams did nothing that hasn't been going on in football for 50-60 years. It's a violent sport where the goal has always been to inflict harm on other men and impose your will. Some players are self motivated to do so, others respond well to incentive games. The incentives were minor and I agree that what was acceptable in the league 30 years ago doesn't fly today, but if you think Gregg Williams is a POS for it, you might want to revisit your opinion on just about everyone who played the game before it became PC. The Hall of Fame would likely be the Wall of Fame if you took everyone out who played the game a little dirty.

I guess you didn't read what I wrote? I said, it would've been nice.. indicating that it isn't happening if he gets a DC opportunity. But the Redskins weren't talking to him about being a DC, they gave him a place to go if he didn't get a DC opportunity. And unless you know something I don't, he hasn't been offered one yet. Even if it makes perfect sense to make him a DC in TB under Arians.

I read it - but the idea that Bowles would not be a DC candidate anywhere is far fetched. I can’t imagine him not having a DC opportunity and having to settle for a DB Coach here or anywhere else, but maybe I’m wrong.
