Re: Let's project the 53 man roster
Agree with most of your roster prediction, difficult to disagree.
A few points could be made: 1) I do think Smithson could be cut to keep Maurice Harris who's shown some potential and whom our coaches seem to like quite a lot. 2) The argument could be made that Kelley could bump Bibbs out if he has a good camp. 3) Kalis might beat Bergstrom, but old Todd played decently last year IIRC. 4) Maybe Taylor ends up getting a spot. Then who's out? McPhee? Unlikely. Anderson? Too early. Vigil? I like him quite a lot... Hood? ... Hard to say.

Back up interior Oline is completely up in the air...agree there. I still wonder with Christian as the Swing Tackle...if in Nsekhe role could be more focused inside? From what Ive heard about RB, Coaching staff like both Bibbs and Marshall...and have been described as more of a backs up of a fragile Chris Thompson. That's why they would keep 4. Guice....Perine/Kelly as 1 and 2nd down workhorse type RBs Thompson....Bibbs/Marshall 3rd down/special packages/change of pace backs. So Guice and Thompson are obviously making the team. But expect 4 here. |

Re: Let's project the 53 man roster
Yeah that's why I went with Bibbs over Kelley. Bibbs is more of a 3rd down type, a backup to CT basically. Maybe Kelley beats out Perine but I don't see them both here.

Re: Let's project the 53 man roster
Outside of that one big TD catch against the Vikings last year what did Harris really do? The coaches may like him but they're also high on Davis.

These down the bottom of the chart guys are hard to predict, it just feels strange to imagine Harris being cut after being praised by Jay last year. I really could see him over Smithson. Our DB squad is quite deep already. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk

Re: Let's project the 53 man roster
The WR and RB positions are really wide open competition. At RB, after Guice and Thompson, I would assume Perine and Marshall make it, as backups for Guice and Thompson in that order. That means Kelley and Bibbs are out. I think Kelley has to beat out Perine (and perhaps could) and Bibbs has to beat out Marshall (and perhaps could). I have a feeling Martez Carter has no shot.
At WR, you figure we have Richardson, Doctson, and Crowder as locks, and then after that it is crowded with Quick, Harris, Davis, Cobbs, Quinn, Sims, Kidsey, and Fields (I don't even know who the last two guys are). Harris has looked good in TC per the reports, and it sounds like coaches are intrigued by the size of Davis, Cobbs, and Sims, and the hands of Quinn. No idea who makes the roster, although I would think that Harris has the best shot of this group, with Quick and Davis a shade behind. Not sure if the depth chart released today says much of anything.

IMHO coaches use these early unofficial depth charts to motivate players. A 2nd round rookie who allegedly had character issue? Put him last and make him earn that starter spot so he doesn't spend camp believing it belongs to him because of where he was drafted. Don't know how much truth there's to that, but I feel like this would be a good use of these. Also avoids having a locker room of veterans hating on a rookie who would have been given someone else's spot too easily. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk

Re: Let's project the 53 man roster
Link isn't working right now. I hope R. Davis makes the team. At WR, its hard to pick a top 6 tho, gonna cut 1 or 2 guys that could contributors. I'd like Doctson, PRich, Crowder, Quinn, and Robert Davis. I don't know how to pick the 6th guy. Either way there will be a guy or 2 I'd like to keep in ideal world.
Who was listed # 2 at LG?

Re: Let's project the 53 man roster
All I've been hearing from JP Findlay and his crew is that Kelley has looked better than Perine in camp. They also said that Gruden mentioned that Kelley could potentially play FB in some situations.
Given this, how is it that people think Perine will beat out Kelley? Of course, we still have the preseason games. I think they may end up with 4 RBs, since you want a backup for Guice and one for Thompson.
