Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
Have you ever heard of Fred Davis and Tanard Jackson? The problem is that Gregory could turn out to be worthless to the Skins due to drug suspensions. There is no way I would take that risk in the first round.

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
While it certainly raises red flags, the honesty Gregory answers the question is a relief. I think if im a team looking to draft him I looking to seperate how he is using...1)is he just a stoner in college (i could relate) who can stop 2) does he have a substance abuse issue or 3) (what I believe) he struggles with anxiety, so he medicates with herbals.
If it is 1 or 3, I dont have a problem with drafting him. And imo if it 3 it should be legal anyway, I mean thats the perfect reason.

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
... There are corollaries to (1) -- (a) Is he a stoner who can't stop? (b) If you think he can stop, are you confident enough in your risk analysis to bet a substantial franchise asset on it? (c) Regardless of your confidence in your risk analysis, does your team have the flexibility absorb the lost/wasted asset if you are wrong?
I got no problem with the occasional college user. At the same time, and regardless of your stance on the issue, mary jane is still not allowed to play in most jurisdictions and, if the NFL catches you playing with her, you are on the fast track out of the playground. With a top 5 pick, your options (1) & (3) represent big risks for a franchise. If you think he's "just a stoner who can stop," you better have some high confidence in that assessment. Similarly, if it's Seattle for example, they have some flexibility to blow a top 5 pick and not suffer a franchise set-back. We don't have that flexibility yet. We NEED production out of this pick - either in the form of a high-floor/high-ceiling player or quality value for a trade back. He may end up being a beast. He may be a Trent Williams (remember his 4 game suspension?). On the other hand, he is by no means a sure thing - even without the failed test, and he may be the next Fred Davis. Right now, unless we trade back, no way I take him at 5. Too much work to be done on this roster. There will be other chances to gamble in the future. Now is not the time. Build steady with high probability/low risk choices to build the foundation then go out on a limb in hopes of catching lightning.

If 1, immaturity, but that's the concern everytime a draft pick does flunk with that positive test. Its a red flag for sure. Is he a Randy Moss or Justin Blackmon...thats why McC get paid the big bucks.

Well surely under the circumstances he is "disabled" in some way. Can we not have him classified as disabled? Then perhaps on the bright side the NFLPA can sue the NFL for denying some.....sot ........of....rights if they suspend him?
Note: He could get a Kick Ass parking spot right next to the building if he got that blue handicapped sticker!

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
If we want an edge rusher we don't need to draft Gregory to get a good one, so why would we draft the one who flunked his Combine drug test? Answer: We wouldn't.

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
When you have options at 5 overall, I have no idea why you'd look past this. Fowler or Beasley will be there, not sure why you'd take Gregory over them, given this news.
My own personal biases? I hate marijuana, I've never touched it, I think it's gross and unseemly. It completely turns me off from someone when I hear they use it. That of course turns me off from a lot of people. No surprise because I'm the asshole in this place right? I'm the asshole? Yeah well I would never eat here anyway. You don't have the option to take only players who have never tried marijuana, too many have. But at 5 we at least have the option to stay away from this guy no questions asked. There are other fish in the sea if we're looking for a pass rusher.

Smoking weed doesn't bother me, but testing positive right before the draft is just inexcusable. Gotta be smarter than that. He says he last smoked in December? Pure bullshit.

Re: 2015 Draft Prospects... First Edition
There is NOOOOOO way they can and will take Gregory at 5. i dont care tha he smokes weed as half the league does. but the fact that he couldnt/didnt stop months before the combine speaks volumes. ..he is stupid! A good friend of mine who played in the league for 10 years smoked weed on a regular. He said the league tells the players and teams well in advance when they are going to drug test you. so anyone with half a brain just stops smoking a few months beforehand then go back to smoking the day after the test. He said the only time they truly do "randoms" are when you are repeat offender.other than that they can smoke pretty much 9 months out of the year.
