I've watched this guy for a few years now. He's very talented. The problem with him is that he's not RT. I think he's more of a OG. At the position there is a abundance of talent that will be available early in the second round.

One way or the other one thing I think we really need to focus on in the next two drafts is improving in the trenches on both sides of the ball. We need to start putting high picks on that defensive front and offensive line. If we can run the ball and get after the passer constantly we'll be a playoff team. If not we're going to keep having these up and down seasons.

Don't you mean down and down seasons, it's rear that we have up and down seasons.

This Jon dove breakdown is really good. Agree with what he says of Leonard Williams (he does disappear) and randy Gregory (I think he has the biggest bust potential outside of marriota if picked top 10).

To me, I really am intrigued by Shane Ray and Vic Beasley.

I have to disagree with you about this Big Board. I think this guy is just acting like a contrarian while hoping to get lucky and show everyone how smart he (thinks he) is.

For goodness sakes, he doesn't even have Gregory in his top 32. That is downright ridiculous. Most true experts have Gregory in their top 5. The only reason he gives is that Gregory lacks strength. Well, he may lack strength now but he's going to get bigger and stronger as a pro because he has the frame for it. Also, you can't teach length or speed. Plus Gregory possesses rare athleticism and football instincts. He's going to be a star, IMO.

I know you like Beasley, and he was an outstanding college player, but I think that he is just too small to be effective as an edge rusher in the NFL. On the other hand, there is a lot of room for debate on Shane Ray vs. Gregory. I think both of them will be good pros.

OK, I get Winston at #1 on his board but he failed to mention Winston's wind-up delivery which will hurt him as a pro or to give proper consideration to Winston's immaturity.

I can also see some of his issues with Mariotta, but I can't imagine him falling as far as this guy thinks he should.

What his board does reinforce in my mind is the idea that we could trade down and get a very good OL in the 10-15 range. Then, if we wanted to do so, we could either trade back up into the first round for another very good player or simply stay put and use our two second round picks.

I agree with everything you said except IMO Mariota will slide into the late-teens or twenties.

Any GM who takes Winston #1 should be fired on the spot.

Unless the team owner told him to do it. In that case, if Winston is a bust, then the owner can conveniently forget that he told the GM to pick Winston and fire the GM later.

Then my argument still holds. Mercy firing - go ahead and get it over with.

Is it right that there are no safeties worth a high first round grade or is he skewed toward pass rush in his evals?

top 16 safeties, like OGs or Cs, aren't very common, since colleges generally use the players that are too small to play linebacker and too slow to play corner.

collins (underclassman) is #7 on cbs's board (SS), followed by prewitt (FS) at #52. pretty big gap. if whoever wasn't grading underclassman, than collins wouldn't show up.

I strongly disagree with you on Winston. He's going to be a good qb. All he needs is a year on the bench to learn.

His windup is a killer. You can get away with a windup like that in college but not in the pros, as Tebow taught us. Winston's not gonna lose that in a year.

His release is not a problem in my opinion. He can work on that. Based on what I've seen, he's sees the field really good, he's accurate, good arm strength, and has some mobility. I think if he gets a year to watch he'll come out good right away.
