Re: The Good News Thread

I just reviewed a motion one of my attorneys drafted. This is a guy I have bitched about for months 'cause he just wasn't getting it done and I was having to do his work. I have been pounding on him to improve, well, everything.

In particular, his legal writing was horrible. He buried his best arguments, couldn't tell a factual narrative in understandable manner, much less a persuasive one, and general made his readers work really hard to understand his points. Just terrible stuff.

While not brilliant, the motion he gave me today was readable, relatively concise, clear and fairly persuasive. It was light years ahead of his recent submissions.

I must be an amazing manager.

Re: The Good News Thread

It's old good news, but we adopted a puppy last month. Her name's Ziva and she's a pain in my ass. lol I love her but she's still got a ways to go (Read as: She's not housebroken for shit).

She's 8 months old now and helps keep our senior citizen dog Isabel young. (She's 7)

Ziva on the left. Isabel on the right.

North Korean leader missing North possibly planning Unification | EUTimes.net
Quote:
The third generation Kim dynasty heir, Kim Jong-un, has been missing from public sight for a month, and may be ill, dead, or overthrown. There is much speculation, and contradictory reports are circulating, including the assertion that Pyongyang is sealed off, and no one is being permitted to enter or leave. But one fact is clear and it is dramatic. CNN reports:

With Kim Jong Un out of sight for a month, a covey of North Korea’s high officials popped down to South Korea for a last minute jaunt on Saturday, and delivered a diplomatic bonbon.
Kim Jong-un has not been seen for 37 days and the internet is about to explode

The current official story is that he has a leg injury.
Kim Jong Un's long absence from public view explained - Chicago Tribune
Quote:
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is in firm control of his government but has hurt his leg, a source with access to the secretive North's leadership said, playing down speculation over the 31-year-old's health and grip on power.

"He injured his ankle and knee around late August or early September while drilling because he is overweight. He limped around in the beginning but the injury worsened," the source said.

Kim, who has rapidly gained weight since coming to power after his father died of a heart attack in 2011, had been seen walking with a limp since an event with important officials in July, which would imply he may have aggravated an earlier injury.

Kim needs about 100 days to recuperate, said the source, whose information could not be independently verified.
We can only hope. Of course this could easily make its way to the bad news thread as its been widely speculated that if the Kim regime and North Korea were to crumble, the flood of refugees into China and South Korea could bring about one of the worst humanitarian disasters in recent history (mainly China seeing as how the DMZ is virtually impossible to cross by land).

Lmao. Saw the Eli one because I happened to be walking past the TV - so true.
What would make me happy though is if somehow they both lose.

Re: The Good News Thread

I'm not sure if anyone knows, but I'm by no means a 10 or even close. I've been overweight (or let's use the real word here, obese) my entire life and hit my highest weight last April right around when my grandmother took a turn for the worse and I started saying "F it" and eating my feelings like crazy. Late last year I started taking control of shit, working out, eating clean (or at least mostly clean) and I have only cheated on my lifestyle change 3 times since November (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years) and soon to be next month for my girlfriend's grandfather's 93rd birthday.

Good news is... Right now I'm about 30lbs down from my highest weight and still losing. It's a big deal to me and I'm kinda excited, because I've never stuck to anything like I have this lifestyle change my whole life and eventually, I'm working my way to being what I consider a 10! Just wanted to share with you guys!
