NFL Redskins interested in Vanderbilt's Franklin - ESPN

There is some interest in Franklin.

Thanks for the insight.

To me this would be a very Shanny-like pick and a very Danny-like choice.

We're interviewing both big and obscure names. We're interviewing former HC's, coordinators, and college folks. We are doing our due diligence in a good way. I think this is a good sign.

Contrast this search with our last search, where we really interviewed just one guy and the rest was fluff.

Good points all around. It's a professional FO today, and a zorn type hire is very unlikely. That said I feel like we're gonna end up with an HC that's still a big gamble to succeed. Lovie was the only proven HC but he was probably headed to Tampa no matter what. We won't find anyone who's accomplished what he has, and the next most accomplished candidate, G Williams, isn't on our list either.

So it'll be a coordinator who's never coached a SB winning group, a college prospect who's getting there feet wet in the nfl, or an HC retread like Whisenhunt. But at this point I don't really think the HC is as critical as putting a solid staff together. We need a really talented DC to get our defense playing with pride. We need an OC who can build an awesome rapport with RG. And an HC who can lead and make the most of the roster.

If you believe our next coach will not be someone with successful nfl head coaching, you're a fool. So far, only one of the candidates we know about could potentially fit that bill (Caldwell).

Actually, for those who like past history, a college coach/unproven nfl name would be the historical pick for Snyder:

Skins Coaches under DS:
Norv (previous hire)
Robiskie (interim)
Shottenheimer (first hire - proven NFL Coach)
Spurrier (Big name college/unproven NFL coach)
Gibbs (Proven NFL Coach)
Zorn (Unproven NFL name)
Shanahan (Proven NFL Coach)
???

edit:
Sadly History would also say you could expect the next coach to have a 2 year tenure. So I am all for breaking the patterns.

Heck by that pattern we will either pick someone whose name starts with an S or Bevell based on the Seattle connection.

This time around is different for me, I honestly don't really care who we hire. I guess it's because I was so let down with mike that I don't even believe we will win until the team does consistently. It just seems like we r doomed under Dan.

Seriously, is there anyone on twitter that pumps out more Skins related BS than Russell?

Not a bad place to be IMO. It can only get better for you.
