Present day, most skins fans are either cursing the coach, the young qb and owner.

This isnt good. I dont know why people are acting so happy right now.

This means we as a franchise has failed miserably yet again. This means the last hope we had 4 years ago and last year is gone . . .

Shanahan had to go as i do believe he leaked that story of him wanting to leave in an attempt to jump ahead in the PR war over his dismal record.

I give DS tons of credit for holding steady until after the season and actually showing some sort of patience. If he had fired mike 3 games ago i believe his rep as an owner would have taken another hit . . .despite this fanbase foaming at the mouth for blood.

DS i give you props. You actually showed more restraint than our impatient knee-jerk fair fan brethren.

Another great thing is that (like mike said in his presser), we as a franchise are finally done with cap problems. no more AH, portis, arch deluxe etc bad contracts or cap penalties. Of course bruce allen deserves alot of credit for cleaning up our salary cap.

cap wise we are a better franchise. bruce is better than vinny. i wonder how much of an influence bruce had on keeping dan patient and waiting until the end of the season?

On the business side we're better, but on the field we're still a bad team w/out that 2nd overall pick... and are going the free agent route to improve the team. That model hasn't worked here. We need to really hit on some draft picks...a few more Jordan Reed's and Alfred Morris types. Even another Amerson who I think has the skills to be a great player.

It's finally over. I hope we all can get behind the next HC and direction of the team. There's lots of great candidates out there for HC, DC, and OC.

I thought Shanahan deserved one more year to get things right. Bring back the crew (including Haslett) to right the ship that went off course. Sad day indeed.

Agreed. Free Agency should be viewed as the accessories to a house but not the foundation to build upon.

Agreed. Would have liked to see the continuity in this offense with RG3 completing a full offseason at improving at the QB position and seeing what we could have done with almost $40 million in cap space *sigh*

Re: It's official: Shanahan fired

How much impact do you guys think RG3 had on this decision? The guy left Redskins Park without speaking to the media and hasn't endorsed Shanahan like other players (Reed Doughty, Chris Neild, etc.) have done on twitter and in public.

Can we deem RG3 a "Coach Killer"? I really like the guy but I'm starting to see how he really is. Stubborn and doesn't like to be told what to do.

Go back and highlight that white space underneath.

I think the relationship between the Shanahan's and RG3 had an impact. I don't think he's a coach killer, but he needs a tough that will coach him hard.

I mean, did anyone expect him to stay? Is the new coach going to come in and keep him? Kyle S. wasn't RG3's biggest fan either.
