Re: Offensive MVP 9/11/05

Clinton allowed us to play field position and ball control in the second half. That allowed our D to win the game--just barely. Thought the O-line picked it up big-time after the half, but they had their hands full with the bears. Clinton gave us a little swagger there on O, which we really need.

Liked Moss, especially that great RAC in the first half--is it just me, or did he totally get horese collared at the end of that play? Why aren't we getting any protection out there? What are these dang rules for?!?!

i'm going with portis on this one, he helped out in more ways than one. moss had a good game too, i think that 52 yard reception really helped them respect our passing game more, which is a good thing. i finally feel like we have the deep passing game figured out.

Portis moved the chains after the first quarter. I'd like to split my vote between him and Ramsey. PR did a great job converting some longish third downs.

Portis! What a beast of a running back we have. You could see as the game wore on how he and the o-line are getting their timing down more. He and Betts are going to be reckoned with this year!

Re: Offensive MVP 9/11/05

CP was a monster.

And what I really liked was the fact he had 22 carries, that's a perfect amount for him. Last year we rode him into the ground, no need to do that with Betts spelling him and playing so well. I really like our 1-2 punch with Portis and Betts.

Gotta tip your hat to the line as well. Anybody notice how we were able to run against a stacked box? The line did a great job and I thought offensively we did a good job of making adjustments to the quicker hitting runs.

Throught the first quarter or so, Chicago had the running game bottled up, then they were just wore down. Gotta give it to Portis though. I also like the interspersing of Ladell Betts. It really seemed to keep Portis fresh.

I can't give it to the offensive line because there was consistent pressure on our QB. Run blocking was better later on, but pass blocking needs some work.

I AM a little concerned that a lot of blitzes got through, HOWEVER I really am going to give the Bear's D some credit. They are way better than advertised.

However, who's got a W in the win column baby?

Re: Offensive MVP 9/11/05

When you only score 3 FG's its hard not to give it to the kicker, but I chose Portis. This was a game where we had to play ball control and field position. Portis's 5.8 yard average (despite a run-heavy gameplan), allowed us to control the Time Of Possesion (with an 8 1/2 minute advantage) and move the chains after the absolute cheap shot that Patrick took.

I expect the league will fine Briggs for that hit. Unfortunately, no fine will un-ring a bell.

John Hall, he is the only player that scored any points.

I voted the o-line they protected the qb's for the most part and oppended the lanes for the backs in the power running game. The site of seeing Samuels upfield laying a linebacker out get me so excited

I also went with the O Line, they allowed Portis the luxury of picking the gap to run through.

The officiating was horrible, but I'm sure that was mainly the Homer-Redskins fan in me. If any of our LB's had hit Orton like that I'd have loved it, but expected a flag.

Portis and the O-line. They really stepped it up in the second half. Just wore them down.
