This Loss Was Good
Even though we loss, I think this was good for us and brings everyone back down to earth.
The fans, yes even me perhaps have been overly optimistic based on us making the playoffs last year and believing that we are one of the best teams in the NFL and Super Bowl Contenders. Everyone automatically believes we are the best team in the division. This team still has holes and much work to do. RG3- He needed to be slightly humbled. All of the hype surrounding him all offseason was definitely going to his head and you could see it in the media press conferences etc. Sometimes it appears as if he thinks HE is the team. Why should we be surprised though for a young 22 year old rookie star who remains plastered across ESPN and the DC fans treat like their savior and chant "RG3, RG3!!!" Nonstop wherever he is? Hopefully, he's learned something if his expectations were set very high coming into this game and is prepared to work and focus. Alfred Morris- Another guy who's hype skyrocketed. Perhaps he started believing it. I'm not saying the guy isnt good, but i've been watching football long enough to know you can't "annoint" a guy based off of one year or two. There have been so many rbs who appeared like the next great, and then vanished with a hard drop off. Larry Johnson and Shaun Alexander ring a bell? Again, not saying this is the case, but be realistic and temper your expectations for a late round pick who had one great rookie year. Wrs- we still need a true #1 WR. Garcon is more of a borderline #2. Defense= They are who we thought they were. Still getting gashed by the run and destroyed in the secondary. Dont know why so many people thought we were magically going to change this year. Rambo, Amerson, and Biggers all gave us hope of a shored up secondary, but nothing has changed and Jim Haslett continues to look lost. We "came back", but i think that had more to do with Philly giving us everything underneath for a reason. Tough road ahead with the Packers next week but this loss will show us what this team is made of. If they believed their own hype and the chest thumping of the fans and how everyone was saying "oh Philly is terrible, they are the worst in the division, Chip Kellys offense wont do well in the NFL, Vick is done" then a loss like this would crush them. Or, they can get motivated an go out next week and try their hardest to beat up Green Bay. Its going to a long exciting season, but i've learned to lower my expectations. |

Of all the boneheadedness that went on last night, what may have been the most frustrating was Morgan's decisions to gain two more yards on receptions rather than going out of bounds. He did that twice. It scares me that someone could be so empty-headed.

Vick is in the perfect offense for him. He was clearly the best QB on the field last night. I don't know if it won't work but he still has the speed to run the ball and that helps it go. But no way is he playing 16 games.

That was bad, but I give the award to D Hall penalty and then over-acted on the retaliation shove looking like a punk. Up until that point I hadnt throw anything.

Hate to do this but - if there's a scapegoat, it's Alfred Morris.

I agree somewhat but the turn overs in general killed us and Chris Thompson's just bone head mistakes fielding the ball when our offense so desperately need good field position was plan awful.

I feel like GB owes us. We have nearly beat them the last two times 07 and 10. Plus we have not beat them since 1988.
I think we put it together and beat the Pack. In true Redskin's fashion we lose the easy ones and win the tough ones.

Re: Skins v Eagles post game thread
I didn't read a whole lot between page 1 and page 8, so maybe this is restating the positives but, I hear a whole lot of bashing of the defense and praise of the eagles offense on the radio, and I just can't help but think that appearance wasn't reality last night:
The eagles 1st drive looked good, but ended with a turnover, something Vick is known for. The 2nd drive stalled before they got in the redzone. 3rd drive started inside our 30 4th drive was a 3 and out 5th drive was a 7 and out 6th drive was a 9 and out forgive me, but that's what we wanted from our defense. Our offense had 4 possesions at that point consuming 5 minutes total game clock. If even one of those had been a sustained drive, I doubt the Eagles offense would have put their last two sustained drives together. Then, the Eagles had 5 first downs in the whole 2nd half. This game turned on a sloppy offensive 1st quarter. Lots of ways to look at that, but ultimately Griffin summed it up best by saying that the offense had a case of the CantGetRights. Next Sunday I hope we pass that disease to the Packers. |

No loss is good. Not in the NFL at least.
I personally believe if the skins don't make the playoffs this year or at least do not contend for one until the very end the organization should assess the coaching staff and consider firing some folks. Just my opinion though. |

Gotta call it like I see it. Giving away field position and giving up the ball and points- there's no comparison.

It is like hockey if you allow the opposing team to have 1000 shots on goal in a period eventually even a brick wall well let a few in. Kind of hard to blame the goalie at that point.
