I didn't read this article citing Cofield as a strong NT...but I think Graziano makes an interesting point of why he thinks he is...#GoatLogic

yeah, it'd be nice to have a real tub in there, but cofield is holding it down.
sorry if i want "impressive for the position", not "impressive for playing out of position"!!

Truely dominant 3-4 nose tackles aren't exactly easy to find. There's barely a handful currently active in the league, and I would not advocate breaking the bank to bring any of them here.

I'd put Cofield on average to slightly above average. With all of the actual liabilities on this defense, he's probably one of the most likely players to keep his spot going into next season.

Shanahan is much like Bellicheat in that fact that neither like to give hardly any info in regards to injuries or whether or not a player will play. I would not be surprised if he's listed as a "game time" decision whether they plan to play him or not.

Yes. 3rd downs have been problematic all year. 29th of 32 teams. RT @NC_Skins23 What's that 3rd down conversion percentage? Still horrible?

Ranking 29th out of 32 teams in 3rd down conversion is pathetic. Makes me mad to no end that this offense is so potent, but stalls out on 3rd downs. What really infuriates me is when I see a option pitch play on 3rd and short. Makes me want to drive to DC to choke Kyle.
Who gives a damn about stats? Would you rather have a team be 50% on 3rd down but average 17 points? The bottom line is the offense is scoring enough points to win games. 31 points yesterday should win most games!!! I think the issue with 3rd down is when teams know when we have to pass then that's the weakness. It's a combination of the line, RG3 feeling comfortable letting plays develop/not wanting to take off running, and the wr's hanging on the the ball. We have to remember that we have a 22 year old rookie playing QB. As time goes on he will develop into a better passer. His footwork in the pocket is a little off but that will improve. He's a gym rat. But again, look at this offense from last year to this year. It's night and day.But I agee, Kyle need to ditch the pitch!

Who ever goes next week I think it's safe to say that we all feel a lot better about our chances with old Kirk Sleeves Cousins after he went berserk last Sunday.

With just a grade I sprain RG3 should be able to play this week and be pretty close to his usual self.

Kerrigan has been taken out by average LT's throughout the season. I will take back my statement that he can't cut because he is an average player on the outside. Obviously like most people on this board I have been watching every game almost every play and almost every time they leave Kerrigan on an island with one tackle and he does the same bull rush move that he always does and never gets pressure. He got pressure on the Ravens once and that was when the let him get a free run at Flacco. Obviously this year we need to upgrade the team's pass rush because pass rush: good pass defense.

His total tackles are slightly down from last year, but his sack totals will likely be higher. He obviously hasn't had quite the same impact as last season, but that's to be expected when the primary pass rusher is on IR and he has to pick up the slack, basically by himself.

And in spite of the fact that the Redskins were gouged by Ray Rice yesterday, they're still seventh in the league against the run, and giving up less than 100 yards per game. They are by no means, bad against the run.
We are 16th and YPA, so we are mediocre, against the run it is just that teams don't try to run the ball against us because we are so bad against the pass. Otherwise we would be worst against the run. Plus our offense is so high tempo that we force other teams to pass more often.

I do know a little bit about medicine, even though I'm not a doctor.

That being said, rest for ANY injury is never a bad thing, but I'd wager RG3 will be ready to roll come this Sunday.

Re: Ravens at Redskins Post Game Thread (RG3 MRI Result-Sprained Knee)

Its amazing to me how great and dominant Kerrigan can be with Orakpo and how medicore he can be without Orakpo.

MS said that he wants this defense to be a version of the Pittsburgh steelers defense and he envisioned Ryan Kerrigan and Orakpo as LaMaar Woodley and James Harrison.

Sad thing is that Orakpo at his best is barely a Woodley. Kerrigan isn't as good or comparable as the Woodley or Harrison. I think back to last year with Woodley playing and Harrison sitting out and Woodley is being double and sometimes triple teamed; and still is getting pressure or sacks.

Kerrigan used to be doubled teamed fairly regularly; now he gets singled teamed and taken out of games fairly easily. And yes, Kerrigan does only have one move; thats the Bull rush; and one move as a pass rusher isn't going to cut it.

I remember smoot saying we were thinking about trading Orakpo earlier in the year; I hope to god that the Redskins have some common sense now and see that we need him.

Side note; we need to draft a pass rusher that has more than 2 moves..

Very true statement. The ease with which Joe frikkin Flacco picked us apart in the first half was disgusting. Hopefully, C Griff will upgrade the CB just a tad when he gets back, and hopefully we can get the terrible tandem of Doughty and Madoodoo WIlliams back on the bench. Our safety play is the most important position to fill come the offseason. Just one average player at either of the safety positions would translate into a much better pass defense, and with the addition of Orakpo coming back, it will be that much better. Things are definitely looking up for the defense, as long as we can get rid of Doughty and Williams.

I'll admit; our defense has been gelling a lot better lately, and that we have been playing well in the 2nd half (its too bad we can't adjust in the first half; then the defense would be ranked higher)

Watching the game yesterday, beside our poor pass rush and our awful secondary, I noticed yesterday on the two Boldin TDs that we had Madieu ''doo doo'' williams playing cover 1 (meaning center field safety). He is, well by seeing boldin had 2 TDs, awful at that. But a safety who is great at that..Jarius Byrd. As a matter of fact, thats really all Buffalo has him playing...not saying, just saying (oh whats that he's going to be a FA ?!?)
