If Green would come back now, I'd still want him. The guy defined what it is to be a Redskin. It's not just his outstanding play that deserves to be in the Hall, but also the man that wore the uniform for 2 decades. Class act.

Darrell, you have my vote!!!!!!

i heard that same radio broadcast when i was on the road. i think he mentioned at the end that russ grimm and maybe another of the hogs should get conisderation. russ grimm over DG? i dont know. maybe he just didnt want to seem too biased considering he played in washington.

Russ Grimm & Joe Jacoby will both be in some day. The O-line is the most respected group league wide from the skins title teams so they will eventually get represented.

I saw him in the lobby and asked for his autograph. He turned his back on me and when I asked him again, he very sharply said, "Don't bother me, I'm talkin' to my people".
I was crushed. (I was 16 yrs old).. Theismann saw this exchange from accross the lobby and came up to me, introduced himself, introduced me to Dave Butz, Dexter Manley, Art Monk, Don Warren, Joe Jacoby and John Riggins. He arranged for a picture (which I still have) and they all signed it. Needless to say, Joey T. is a class act who cared about the fans and had a tremendous love of the game and will always be my favorite player. BTW...what ever happened to Charlie Brown??? hee hee hee.
Great story dblanch66.....and what a picture you have to cherish. Joey T has always been nice to the fans.

Kuselias then asked for a yes or no (whether Joe thinks they deserve to be in the HOF) for a list of names. Erik read them right after another and their was no discussion, just a yes or no answer. Darrell Green's name was read and Theisman initially said yes. Then he back tracked and said, 'oh, you said darrell green. no.'. I was kind of suprised by this. I admit that Darrell is right on the borderline, but was surprised to hear Theisman, who was a team mate during some of Darrell's best years, say no.
As you can see by my moniker I am an Art Monk fan he's not an egotistical loudmouth and did his NFL job with class and dignity and with his records he deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame!!! I guess he's not "splashy" enough for the voters. But why is Peter King the gate keeper????????? Curious wonder why Joe said no to Darrell or was he talking about getting into the HOF on a first round ballot maybe?????????? Playing until age 42 deserves to be in the hall!!!...........

So Matty what are you saying that former cocaine addict, and hirer of hookers, Michael Irvin, will get in before any of our Redskins..........
It's just not fair!!! The length of Green's career alone should count for something too!!!!

Given the old O-line are widely respected amongt football aficianados, linemen rarely are recognized amongt a society so determined to raise up a QB above everyone else, (can we all so Ron Mexico?). The Hawgs deserve the honor as much as anyone who's ever played the game but will they...I just don't know gentlemen

Re: Theismann Elicits Strong Emotions

They inducted the Steeler's Center Webster......so I think our Hogs deserve to be inducted.......our team was one of the first that gave well deserved recognition to offensive lines........Ahhh memories who coud ever forget "Hogs Nite Out".........with honorary hog Riggo. I think Jansen is a throwback "hog"...............his team loyalty and work ethic........
