I would rather walk back to dc wearing a mcnabb jersey than have campbell at qb next year.

It not that he's that bad, it's that i it happens we would be moving in the wrong direction.

Re: Carson Palmer to Oakland Raiders for 1st/2012

Makes me think we didn't ask the Raiders for enough for Campbell....what did we get?...a 4th rounder or something?..sheesh!

I hope the skins FO learned something here....you don't get trade value just based on talent....you get it based on perception of how willing a FO is to trade them.
Everyone knew Campbell was gone, so we didn't get much....same issue with McNabb....and we ended up giving the Eagles a 2nd and 3rd for McNabb? Why?...because we thought they were fine holding on to him.
Let's learn something here!

Re: Carson Palmer to Oakland Raiders for 1st/2012

Talk about a crappy trade....I bet most of you would be pissed if the Skins gave up a single 2nd rounder for Palmer...and out QB situation is arguably worse.
I would have been pissed too...a 3rd or 4th rounder?...ok for a 30+yr injury prone declining QB to hold down the fort for 2 years....even that is arguable

I see the Raiders as complete morons on this one...I was SHOCKED at what they paid....SHOCKED

The Raiders were desperate and made a desperate move.

A 4th for JC was perfectly fair compensation and came under different circumstances.

Apples and oranges.

Not when the deals are a season apart and they're both past their primes. Hell, I'm rooting for the guy, we shall see.

I wonder if when Palmer said he wanted to go to a more stable organization, the Raiders were at the top of his list?

Re: Carson Palmer to Oakland Raiders for 1st/2012

Bottom line on this trade:

Yeah, the Raiders paid a steep prize but they had to do something cause Kyle Boller isn't the answer and this is a pretty good team who are not about not let their season go to waste. The Raiders have a solid team all around and whether you like it or not, are a better than the Redskins at this point. The one weakness holding them back (just like the Redskins) is the QB position. Personally I think Palmer will be rejuvenated and take the Raiders to the division championship, call me crazy or a crack smoker the Raiders needed to pull this expensive move. We will see if it was bad or good in a few weeks. Remember they have a sense of purpose and are playing for Al.

The Raiders are fine since he actually said that he wanted to go to a more Stabler organization.

Even with Palmer they're not a SB contender. On top of that I heard today on tv that they only have 5th and 6th round draft picks next year. They went for the quick fix and it's going to blow up in their faces imo.

Oakland is expecting to receive compensatory picks after losing Nnamdi Asomugha, Zach Miller, Robert Gallery, Thomas Howard and Bruce Gradkowski in free agency.

Asomugha, Gallery, were 1st round picks, Miller and Howard were a 2nd rounders, so I would say they will get something in the 3rd and 4th round.

I think comp picks have to do with how many free agents you lose compared to how many you bring in. And contract size has to do with it as well. Butyeah I do agree the Raiders should be receiving at least one 3rd for losing Nnamdi.

Re: Carson Palmer to Oakland Raiders for 1st/2012

The Raidahs offense is full of untapped potential. McFadden is not their only good player. Their receiving corps is criminally underrated because JC17 always does that to his WRs. Whether or not Palmer can tap into that potential is a different matter, but it is there. Jacoby Ford is better than any WR on our roster.
