Bachmann will do well in Iowa, but I don't think it goes much further than that. But her rhetoric is pointed and she can raise money (at least on a state level), so she may stir it up a little. Not much of a starter IMO. The Tea Party loves her, that's for sure, but I don't think an Evangelical Christian is a proper hire in a time where middle ground is so important.

I think she could have a Huckabee like campaign. Own Iowa and then struggle to tread water the rest of the way

Thought Pawlenty was very disappointing tonight

I hate it when people try and act all smart by talking all fancy like. Get off your high horse Ron Paul! Slow down and talk about things the people understand!

"Ron Paul, the Texas congressman who has run for president before, did little to shake his image as a fringe candidate by talking too fast and dropping obscure subjects like "Keynesian bubble'' and "monetary policy'' into the conversation."

I saw this on the MSNBC site but I did not want to start another thread.

Obama: ‘There are days when I say one term is enough’
He talks re-election bid and how his family feels about his decision to run

Obama we say that everyday.

Re: Meet The Candidates: 2012 GOP Thread

Of 415 historians who expressed a view of President Bush’s administration to this point as a success or failure, 338 classified it as a failure and 77 as a success. (Moreover, it seems likely that at least eight of those who said it is a success were being sarcastic, since seven said Bush’s presidency is only the best since Clinton’s and one named Millard Fillmore.) Twelve percent of all the historians who responded rate the current presidency the worst in all of American history, not too far behind the 19 percent who see it at this point as an overall success.

Re: Meet The Candidates: 2012 GOP Thread

I wouldn't underestimate Bachmann at all. If she does well in Iowa or outright wins, which is possible, that almost certainly puts her in the discussion for VP. In a way that Sarah Palin wasn't, because Bachmann is a sitting member of Congress and voters are getting to actually know her and her policy positions as opposed to parachuting into the campaign in the final stages like Palin did. And if she can do well in Iowa, I would expect her to do well in South Carolina too.

I think minimizing gaffes and staying away stuff like where is New Hampshire (sarcasm) will help her a lot. I dare say her biggest asset is that she's authentic and that goes a long, long ways when people are picking candidates.

I don't know if there are any TPaw fans here, but if that guy can't look Mitt Romney in the eye and shoot straight about healthcare, then he sure as hell can't shoot straight with a dictator who wants to wipe us off the map.
