Re: The Mike Shanaplan
I think Tarvaris would fit in the Shannys system better than VY. He has a better arm, better accuracy, mobility is about the same but Tarvaris has no character concerns and mental breakdowns. I can vouch for that i went to school with him i know real well.

Re: The Mike Shanaplan
He is down to earth & made sure he avoid trouble in high school & college. He is a team player and a class act IMO.

Re: The Mike Shanaplan
Might I point out that someone said the team when they lost only lost by a touchdown or less. I'm in no way saying this is a SB team but if the defense can show up this year and actually stop the opponent from getting one TD and perhaps get more turn overs which gives more opportunities for the offense then hopefully the team will have a better record.
Didn't the Skins beat both teams who played in the SB? |

Which isn't a big deal the AFC is sooooooooooo much better. If NFC teams had to play in the AFC they wouldn't win a game. The only reason an AFC team won the Super Bowl is the Steelers were so beaten up from playing an AFC schedule. Forget the fact that the Packers had to play 5 straight must win games and the Steelers got a bye week in round 1 as well as a week 17 game with nothing to play for against the upstart Browns. And it's not like the Packers had THAT many injuries.

Didn't Sage Rosenfelds play for Kyle in Houston and actually played pretty good in Kyle's system. I wonder if he becomes available.......

Re: The Mike Shanaplan
Seems like he's Eli's backup for now.

Re: The Mike Shanaplan
I think he's been mentioned as an option, at least last year he was. But he's around 35 years old. I want some youth at the QB spot, I don't like that we're the only team in the league that doesn't have at least one QB under 30 on our roster.

Re: The Mike Shanaplan
When you really go back and look at some of the games the Skins lost last year it really will be difficult to play worse. I think the running game will be somewhat improved if Helu and Royster can contribute at all. Neither can pass protect but they both come from big programs where they put up serious numbers.
Trent played well at times and should only get better in his second season. The big question mark for me is who plays the right tackle and center positions. JB will probably want to play somewhere as a left tackle and Rabach is just not able to play anymore. Whoever does end up taking the snaps will probably be running for his life a lot. There are some big FA tackles that are going to be available but who knows if they fit the blocking the scheme. Free Agency is really up in the air. If RFA tenders are dropped from the CBA then we may have one of the largest/deepest free angency markets in recent history. But we could go after some nice O-Line talent, and cornerback talent in the event Rogers leaves. The defense essentially has to improve over last year but for the fact that we have a decent safety in Atogwe and we have a new pass rusher to pair with Orakpo. The 3-4 pass rush lives and dies with the ability to generate pressure from both edges and collapse the pocket. The really big x factor now is who will be playing the nose spot. I think Chris Neild could push for serious playing time. |

Re: The Mike Shanaplan
One thing I will say though about last years team, is while we may say that bad kicks cost us a few games we also have to remember that we won two by knocking out the opposing teams QB. Had Vick not been hurt in game 1 and Young with the Titans we were likely looking at another two losses. So even though 2 or 3 games were lost because of problems with the kicking game we also ended up with breaks in two others.
Either way it's kind of impressive to come away with 6 wins despite having the 31st ranked defense, 30th in rushing, and a QB with a sub 80 rating. The defense this year should finish no worse then 17th and now come in with top 10 potential with all the new parts coming in. The running game can go either way finishing in the 20's or just as easily in the top 10. Little doubt though that the formula is set. Run the ball, play tough defense, and if Beck develops great, if not use the passing game when you can.
