This is still a throwing team, even without CP laying people out in the backfield. It just becomes a little bit harder.
I don't know much about groin pulls, but he was already our 5 weeks? How long does it take to heal these things?

Damn, you would think that this was a memorial service for the late CP.

I don't think that he will be going anywhere until he is officially the Redskins All-Time leading rusher.

As I understand it he tore an ab muscle in Sundays game so it's not related to his groin tear.

That's actually worse, imo. Indicative of how much wear and tear his body has taken. Dude's made plenty of money, probably should just move on to the next phase... perhaps associate professor of diction at the U.

I think we should keep him as a backup for next season unless someone gives up good value for him.

A Grade III strain, where the muscle came completely off the bone. 5 weeks is very quick to come back from this type of injury.

If Portis is still a Skin in '11, great. If not, it was a pleasure watching him play in DC.

Um, not happening. The market for injury prone, stumble prone running backs in their 30s in pretty much nonexistent.

If he does not come back then F*&% him and the too much money we paid for him. Ok I had to be the first to hate on him because you know it will come.

I agree. CP hasnt been a top flight back for a few years now. There's no point on the Skins wasting anymore time and $ on this guy.

Re: Portis Officially Done for Season-Placed on IR

While Portis may be reluctant to come right out and say it, the Redskins rushing record would mean a great deal to him. I think that's the main reason why he worked so hard during the off-season knowing the mark would be within his reach, providing he could stay healthy.

Don't be surprised to see him make an effort to come back next year. Shanahan believes he still has something left, so half his battle is won.

Re: Portis Officially Done for Season-Placed on IR

It will be interesting to see what Shan does with the running backs next year. He could keep Williams and bring back Portis as 3rd down back or let Portis go and keep Torain and Williams and get a veteran or keep only Williams and get two new people.

Let's of options it seems.

The bold part is likely to be the scenario, I believe.. Unless we find a gem through draft or free agency, we will have same players for RB..
