Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas
Hahahahaha!
My brother and I have had a running bet for beers the last three seasons as to who will have the more productive year receiving between Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly. I of course have had Kelly each year and I always lose because Mr Glass never plays and Devin Thomas(who I think stinks) wins with 240 yards receiving. Now this year I'm really screwed because Mr. Glass doesn't even make it out of preseason and all my brother needs to win the beers is for Devin Thomas to make one freakin reception. And it doesn't count if he makes two receptions for six yards for some other team this year. Epic push! |

Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas
1- teams pay for potential, 2- he was a very good returner. 3- a 5th-7th rounder would have certainly been warrented.

Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas
If any team out there was willing to trade for him, we would have gotten something for him.
The fact that nobody would even give up a 7th rounder for him says 2 things: the rest of the league agrees with Shanahan, and/or they knew he was going to be cut so there's no use in trading for him. Anything higher than a 7th rounder would have been a pipe dream anyway. The guy hasn't done squat. |

Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas
Well, we have been shopping him for a while. Obviously if anyone had offered even a 7th rounder we would have taken that over just flat out cutting him. He isn't worth a side of rice pilaf apparently.

Having suspect agility and vision does not give him a high ceiling.

Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas
Yeah, plus Keenan hasn't been a coach for that long. Shoot it is practically yeseterday he was still an active player. Maybe Devin had a little attitude at practice as a result of not playing or automatically put on as a starter. Promote Austin and hope for the best. Maybe we should have traded for the "Freak".

Yeah, the guy was on the block for awhile and no takers. It just goes to show you how pathetic our overall roster is. |

Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas
I thought he was somewhat unfairly put in the doghouse during OTAs for not being there all the time (and dropping passes didnt help I suppose) but he also came to the park before OTAs even started to get reps in and he was staying late each night. So maybe he just wasnt good enough

Re: Redskins release Devin Thomas
Not surprised nor am I that pissed at Vinny.
If you look at that 2008 second round--there are some real duds at WR; Jerome Simpson, Dexter Jackson, Limas Sweed, James Hardy. Only stud thus far is Desean Jackson. So it wasn't just the Skins that botched those WR evaluations. They just did it twice... |
