Re: Cap Update
Backrow, thanks for the kind comments. There'll be a little something extra in your paycheck this week.
But it's great to have so many people contributing in their own way on this site. It's all about team chemistry...chain is only as strong as its weakest link...united we stand, divided we fall....the sum is greater than its parts (or something like that)...and so on

Re: Cap Update
Thanks all for the kind words.
And I agree the great part of this site is all the posters bring something different to the table. For instance, you won't see too many of my posts when talking about the draft, since I don't really follow college ball closely. I prefer to sit back and see what you guys have to say (which luckily is plenty). I've really learnt a lot over the years from this site. So thanks again and keep up the good work! |

As for Rabach you are correct. I originally broke out the $2 RB over 5 years cuz I wasn't sure when he was due to receive it. I figured I'd go back later and fix it up, but forgot to. Once I made the post I didn't feel like changing all the numbers and totals, etc., considering a lot of the information is speculation in the first place. Rabach will probabaly get $1M RB in 2006 and $1M in 2007. So for the 2005 cap calculation, you can add the extra $400K to our cap room. |

Patten
Here's Patten's breakdown (estimates):
Patten - 5 years, $13M, $3.5M SB Year...Salary...Bonus...Cap Hit 2005...$660.....$700....$1360 2006...$660.....$700....$1360 2007...$2000....$700....$2700 2008...$2500....$700....$3200 2009...$3700....$700....$4400 Total..$9520....$3500...$13020 2005 cap hit: $1360 I figure we have about $6.8M left under the 2005 cap. |

Re: Cap Update
Hey CC just curious, when you come up with the cap estimates is there a certain way you calculate them? Is there a certain percentage you assign to each year?

Take Patten. I read he got 5 years $13M, with a $3.5M SB. That leaves $9.5M to account for. Since no RB is mentioned, I assume the entire $9.5M will be salary. His salaries have not yet been posted on NFLPA, so I just make estimates. I know the total and I know the first couple years are usually at the league minimum. |

Re: Cap Update
Just for the record, the numbers in the official cap sheets are pretty much all verified. I try not to put any estimates in there.

Releasing Coles will take us right up against the cap pretty much. I think we can probably expect some post-June 1st cuts to make room for the rookie contracts that we'll have to ink for the draft picks. Either that or some contracts will have to get restructured. We may be done in free agency, but the work isn't done yet. |
