The kicking situation continues to be a concern regardles of whether it's punter or place kicker. They're both two of the most unsettled positions on the team.

Re: Redskins Sign P Josh Bidwell

I would think based on what we are doing at other positions that at least 1 more punter will be signed. I wouldn't think this gaurentees that Bidwell is our punter this year.

This guy is a proven pro. I have no concerns about the punting. Smith was declining, the numbers prove it.

I think the place kicker from FSU could turn out to be a long term solution.

At least we don't have the Choking Cowboy Retread (who singlehandedly lost 2 games for us last year) and the idiotic punter who could not stop pulling his helmet off.

Well.. okay I guess? Cheaper than Hunter if that matters to them I guess.

Seems strange not to bring Hunter back unless we were going for some youth movement.

Hunter just wasn't that good last year.

Being able to acquire some long term stability at either position would be ideal. Bidwell has established himself in the league, but he's a twelve year veteran with a limited future to say the least. Gano has yet to establish himself because of his infancy, his youth could afford him the opportunity to be a long-term solution. Time will tell.

and....this is different from Bidwell how? he's 34 y/o. I can understand competition. I was hoping we would be bringing in other punters and kickers to challenge for the job but why should the team be over looking Hunter when he was one of the bright spots.

Ok, but he was 24th in net and 32nd in avg. I am not losing sleep over letting a bottom 10 punter go.

It isn't like we are letting Lechler go.

Smith had some leg issues wonder if that played into the decision to move on.

True. They almost had to release him during the season last year.
