Re: Jags starter rips tebow! Says no to drafting him.
Half Tebow's game is his ability to run with the ball. Half of his game is officially gone with his introduction to the NFL. Hopefully he has the mental capacity to learn to take a snap from center, and he has a decent arm. I think he will be a project no doubt, but with several years of experience and in the right system could be a pretty good QB in the NFL.

Re: Jags starter rips tebow! Says no to drafting him.
I would look at Tebow as a player like the NY Jets' Brad Smith. Brad Smith was a good quarterback in college but not suited to the professional game. Good runner, good athlete, just like Tebow. Smith's value is his versatility. That's the only way Tebow is going to be valuable in the NFL. I do not think he can play quarterback full time. He can help a team but it will be with his versatility. In my mind, he is a middle to low round pick. A team with an established quarterback could use him.

Re: Jags starter rips tebow! Says no to drafting him.
If I remember right Alan Fanecca ripped Big Ben before he got a chance to start his first game. Big Ben then went on to win 15 straight games.
Here it is: "Exciting? No, it's not exciting. Do you want to go work with some little young kid who's just out of college?" — Alan Faneca, on rookie Ben Roethlisberger's first start replacing Tommy Maddox

Tebow is definitely one of the most intriguing prospects in years, seems everyone wants to weigh in on the debate. |

I think it's funny that people want to write him off after a few days of practice at the senior bowl. The kid has been operating in spread offense from the shotgun his entire life. I mean, geez, he must be a failure for not immediately grasping a pro-style offense in a matter of days. Apparently he got better as the week went on. He's coachable, smart, has a phenomenal work ethic, and his intangibles are through the roof. He's a project for sure, but I think he can have success in the NFL.

I think a lot of the venom is because Tebow's been put on a pedestal and praised by the sports media for 4 years as "the greatest college player ever". The higher the perch, the harder the fall. The guy did a great job at UF. But stepping up to the next level is a reality check: - He won't be playing on a team that simply outclasses it's opponent 85%+ of the time. - He won't be running over 215-220lb LBs, that may not be even as fast as he is. The first run he attempted in the Senior Bowl is what he'll be seeing every time he tries to run. - His long release has already been exposed. I don't see that getting fixed. - His arm strength is sub-par. - His accuracy is sub-par. He will go down on the long list of successful college QBs who didn't make the transition to the NFL. Someone will give him a shot though. As others have said, I certainly hope it isn't here.

cassel was a backup at USC brady split time at michigan makes sense. honestly, any qb recruited by USC is going to have the physical tools and pedigree but not necessarily the chance to start if the guy ahead of them doesnt get injured. i like this idea for late draft pick qbs.

Re: Jags starter rips tebow! Says no to drafting him.
I keep hearing the Jags will draft him in round 1 to sell tickets. I hear he's a great guy with a lot of character, but if I'm a GM he won't be on my board. I've seen too many GREAT College players that fizzle in the NFL (remember Heath Schuler?) there seems to be a big pitty party for Tebow, everyones like but he's a good kid. That's great but I don't want a good kid on my football team I want a BEAST! I'm kinda in agreement with the Jags lineman. Unless you have a lot of money to waste, and know that you're not passing up another player that can help your team then I don't see many other teams taking that chance..

Re: Jags starter rips tebow! Says no to drafting him.
I don't think any teams picking in the top 20 picks should consider Tim Tebow with their choice. You can't justify that kind of investment, because you won't have the time to turn him into the quarterback he needs to be before his cost dictate he plays. After the 20th pick, I think he's fair game, at both the QB position, and as an athlete.

Re: Jags starter rips tebow! Says no to drafting him.
Venom? All I ever hear and see is the media over hyping this guy like I've never seen anyone in college football. I literally could not listen to the announcers do a Fla. game. It got ridiculous. Chis Leak was a MUCH better passer than Tebow and what ever happened to him? Tebow should just give up the QB dream and learn a new position asap. He'd make a nice H-back or a full time teams player.

Lefevour might go before Tebow since he outshone him in the North South Game.

Re: Jags starter rips tebow! Says no to drafting him.
Leak did get a pretty raw deal in the NFL, but no worse than Graham Harrell or Dennis Dixon have. The league is completely awash in Quarterback talent, and the teams that don't have anyone who can play aren't trying.

Re: Jags starter rips tebow! Says no to drafting him.
Yeah I agree, not much venom going to Tebow. I just think his huge hype balloon just has been burst though. For the past 3 years all you have heard about was Tebow, Tebow, McCoy, McCoy, etc. Folks just got fed up with it and when Tebow sucked at the North South game folks just called him on it. Tebow no longer has the most stacked football team in the world playing around him, just like Brennan no longer has lame ass WAC teams to inflate his passing stats with.

Re: Jags starter rips tebow! Says no to drafting him.
It's not like Tebow is going to be any worse of a quarterback than half of the guys who do get first round draft grades on a yearly basis. He might actually be better than half of first rounders, but I, like many others, doubt he will be.
Certainly, he's not going to be a worse draft choice by the team that takes him than Mark Sanchez was for the Jets. The key is to wait long enough to take him so that the expectations for Tebow match where he actually is developmentally, which is not very far at all. If a team takes Tebow to be a quarterback, and after two years, decides that he really doesn't understand a progression and doesn't want to waste any more time working with him, and moves him to TE, is that really any different than the team that takes a LT in the first round, and ends up only being able to play him at RG?
