Re: Do you expect Zorn to be fired

Its in Mr. Gibbs part of the county and all, but Danny is getting his advise (From someone with a BRAIN)...COME ON BACK JOE!

Snyder had dinner with Gibbs last night

Though it's surely not a precursor to another return to the sidelines in D.C., we're told that Redskins owner Daniel Snyder had dinner Saturday night with two-time former coach Joe Gibbs.

Per a league source, Snyder still consults with Gibbs, who retired for a second time after the 2007 season, about the team. And we've got a feeling that the two men at some point discussed the best way to navigate a disappointing season in D.C.

Some still believe that Snyder also consults with Mike Shanahan; a team source has flatly denied that contention. And as to lingering rumors that Shanahan will be the next coach of the team, Peter King reported on NBC's Football Night In America that Shanahan definitely will not taking a head-coaching job anywhere during the 2009 season, but that Shanahan will jump back into the fray in January.

It makes plenty of sense. Shanahan has less leverage if only one team wants him; he'll have plenty of leverage come January, if multiple teams come calling.

Adam Schefter reports that Zorn WILL be fired mid-season and the only question is when.

Agreed. Bringing in another coach is not going to solve this problem. It is time to clean house in the locker room and in the front office.

Brian Mitchell for interim HC? Shoot, at this point why not if they are going to fire Zorn midseason. They fired Norv midseason and his offense wasn't as bad as this one is.

Re: Do you expect Zorn to be fired

You know what, I don't even think the question should be surrounding Zorn, when the real problem is the owner and his managing cronies (i.e. Vinnie Cerrato) at the root of the problem. As fans and people who live in this area, there should be some sort of check and balance system for owners who mismanage the area team. It is a disgrace to have such an aweful owner as a representative for this team. A person who creates such a toxic environment and mettles to no end. No one of quality will ever want to coach here as long as he behaves as terribly.

On a personal note, my sister went to school with a niece of Bill Parcells, who said that he was contacted several times by Daniel Snyder back in the early 2000's, around 2002-2003 and she said that he would not touch a team owned by Daniel Snyder with a ten foot pole point blank.

Gibbs isn't the man, he had his second shot did the best he could with it and ended it on a sour note. Gibbs is a great coach and a class act all the way, but he won during his first stint with the best owner and best FO in the business backing him up, not to mention he was in pre cap and FA eras. Coach Gibbs wasn't a Bobby Beathred!!!! Simply put, Gibbs didn't have the positive atmosphere here the second time around to work his magic. Gibbs probably could come back to another team with a good FO and do some damage, but not here. At least he got to the playoffs with this dysfunctional FO. Just imagine what it could of been like with a FO that knew what it was doing?

Re: Do you expect Zorn to be fired

I certainly would not! Therefore I could not blame anyone who would not coach this team as well. I just feel sorry for the players and coaches, and I still root for them, because they are still my favorite team! Screw the owner and management.

Sorry to be so bitter, just how I feel at the moment and have to blow off some steam. The Danny never learns.

Re: Do you expect Zorn to be fired

Whether you think Zorn deserves to be fired or not, his performance warrants it. He is the HEAD coach, and therefore he is ultimately responsible and accountable for the performance of the team. He gets paid for RESULTS and not for anything else. It doesn't matter how much his players like him or how nice he is. Outside of some surprise wins early in his tenure when the rest of the league was feeling him out, the team has gotten progressively worse, and is now one of the most inept Offenses in the League. AND he was hired specifically to improve an Offense that was widely considered to be the weakest part of the team.

The long term issues with the Redskins may go way beyond the Head Coach, but Zorn clearly is not good at his job and should be (and will be) fired. This season is shot. It's time to start preparing for next season and beyond.

Re: Do you expect Zorn to be fired

And was it not the Danny and Cerrato who claimed that Zorn blew them away in the interview and not only shunned Greg William because he did not get along with Vinnie, but the gave him the pink slip.
