Re: Zorn Makes Great Progress with New Offense Geared To Campbells Talents
We went to CP last yr because we had no other weapons they double teamed Moss & Cooley last yr the rookies didn't and some couldn't step up. This year as long as we get some participation we should be good and i think we will. HTTR.

Re: Zorn Makes Great Progress with New Offense Geared To Campbells Talents
I'm still waiting to see this deep ball that JC is supposed to be so good at throwing. He's been 1/4 in the preseason, and he was routinely missing receivers all of last year and the year before.
I'm glad that Zorn will open things up more for JC, but I'll be happier to see JC not over or under throwing wide-open receivers. |

Re: Zorn Makes Great Progress with New Offense Geared To Campbells Talents
Don't forget the (huge) improvements we are likely to see simply because Zorn is returning as the head coach. The Skins' 2nd-half (semi-) collapse last season was partially due to frustration with the new head coach. Remember how many shots we saw of Portis jawing on the sidelines with Zorn? Portis was obviously (and usually rightfully) frustrated. Neither the players or the coach had been through an entire season yet, didn't know how to deal with each other, and I bet many of the players longed for the Gibbs days.
I am a Florida grad and I saw the same phenomenon with Urban Meyer during his first season in 2005. A few players left the team prior to the season, and a few more quit playing hard part-way through the season. The result was a pedestrian 9-3 record (and a bowl loss to a pitiful Michigan team). 2006 rolled around and players realized there was no going back to the old days of the "player's coach" (Ron Zook). The Gators buckled down, focused, and learned to work together and communicate (players and coaching staff). The Gators had lost a heartbreaking game in '05 to LSU that had Urban Meyer in tears in the post game as he realized his spread system was not suited to Chris Leak, a phenomenal pocket passer. 2006 saw an offense more tailored to Leak's style. Yes, Tim Tebow began to see playing time, but review the season and you will see that it was Leak's season. The result? 13-1. National Champions. Look at the Giants. Look at the Eagles. Look at the Cowboys. Do any of these teams honestly frighten you? Look at our roster: who we have returning and who we've acquired. We no longer have a rookie coach. I will be surprised if we don't win the division outright. Shocked, even. I don't care about winning the NFC, I don't care about the Super Bowl. It's a lot of luck at that point. But if we don't win the East, I will be surprised. |

Good Point! Betts is a good back up and he should get alot more carries this year. Portis won't get so banged up that way and we can have him healthy for our playoff push this year.

Last year (first year head coach)Zorn, used Portis as a safety net.Trying to learn as you go,he made mistakes, just as anyone else trying something new.Proceed with caution, back of instead of taking risks, etc. You all know what i mean.Expect a more attacking style offense this year, anyone that watched Zorn play, knows his intensity.

these guys are our offense and theyve been here for years. we are a defensive team with a penchant for running the ball down teams throats. im a defense guy so i dont give 2 rats asses how little but progresivly better cambpell and the passing game gets. as long as they can keep defenses guessin and respectin the pass i could care less at our never had stretchin the field pipe dream. this same crap has been said and hoped upon every year for as long as i can remember, fin jeff george, b llyood and ARE ring a bell? now we think tall receivers are the way to go with kelly n thomas. get a franchise qb to compliment this D. i know these dont grow under trees but we cant stop tryin/lookin then we dont need to tailor eveyrthing perfectly around an adequate qb. fickty im rarely drunk postin go skins

Al Saunders' offense was a deep, vertical passing style offense. But Gibbs was extra conservative the second time around and had veto power over Saunders' play calling. The 'West Coast' system is what we have now with Jim Zorn. Saunders was never a West Coast guy. He's from the Air Coryell system along with Norv Turner, Ernie Zampese, Dan Henning, and Mike Martz. |

Re: Zorn Makes Great Progress with New Offense Geared To Campbells Talents
im not getting why some people think its going to be bombs away this year. that goes against the principles of the west coast. its all about timing, hitting guys in stride. and Y.A.C

Re: Zorn Makes Great Progress with New Offense Geared To Campbells Talents
What Zorn runs isn't necessarily a pure and true WCO though. Hell what the WCO is in the NFL now really isn't what it used to be. Everyone has added their own spin to it.
