Re: Anthony Montgomery Angry about demotion

Well I am pretty sure that I heard Montgomery came into camp out of shape. How do you come into camp out of shape when they have brought in the Big Fella? Is he even ahead of Golston right now?

Now Griff tends to get nicked, the Big Fella gets tired after two plays in a row, and Blache always runs the linemen in and out frequently so Monty should get plenty of playing time this year.

I do not want him traded to the Panthers. We play them this year and could possibly play them down the road. Now if they want to throw us a first rounder, that might be a different story...

I've been hearing that on The Sports Reporters on 980 for at least a week. Plus, there was that thing with the rams center running his mouth about AH a few weeks ago.

The Rams player was referring to him wearing down during the course of a game. I'm just wondering about this talk about him being out of shape right now.

I heard on espn 980, that doc. walker has noticed this every game during while reporting on sidelines. Theisman agreed with Doc as well, but said he hopes AH will be good by season start.

The beat reporter for 1067 (chris something) was saying the same thing.
Take it for what its worth.

At his size I have no doubt he will get winded from time to time, but is this anything new?

Maybe, but from their tone it was more of concern rather than what we should expect.

At least my understanding.

That report on RI that said AH was winded during the Pitt. game because of a "tight jersey" sounded pretty weak to me. How can a jersey be tight enough over shoulder pads that it can "constrain" breathing, which is what AH or the skins were saying?

AH might be out of shape & his knee might not be ready for lots of work. They might be rotating more than we'd like.

I am not 100% sold that Montgomery and Golsten are our future. They are good, don't get me wrong. But they are not great. They are good in spurts. They are not consistent. While good DT are hard to come by, I would not be crushed if we traded him for something of value.

It was all over sports radio yesterday. But I didn't need to listen to the radio cause I saw him loafing on several play against NE. He looked horribly out of shape. I know it's only pre season but so far I'm not impressed w/ Haynesworth.

I took it as the jersey was too tight in the chest area

Monty has been solid but nothing special. Maybe the demotion will motivate him to reach his full potential. I don't think he's going anywhere. We need him.

Thats a huge overexaggeration, yes he looked winded but he wasn't about to pass out on the sideline. I'm very impressed with him. He consistently takes on 2 to 3 defenders allowing for others to make plays. I hate the fact that since he doesnt make the "ooh aaah" play people will not see him for the value he truly brings.

Re: Anthony Montgomery Angry about demotion

I mean what does Montgomery think? They bring in the best DT in the league and he should start over him? And when Griffin is 100% he's a good bit better than Monty as well. Matty got it right, Monty needs to show that he can step in and start next to big Al next year when Griff will likely be elsewhere.

I agree. If he's not making the "ooh aaah" plays, he's definitely helping someone else make them. Doc was saying that if he wants to be like Reggie White he may have to get in better shape because Reggie played every down. If he's playing at 350, maybe he should be at 330-335. He also said at this point in the season it's too late but the coaches may want to talk to him in the future about what it would take to be like Reggie if that's what he really wants. Only AH can decide that. As it is, the guy is pushing 600 lbs. around on every play. Sometimes more. If the other players on the line don't make plays that's on them, not AH IMO. He's doing his part, they just need to do theirs. As far as Monty goes, if he wasn't so lazy they might not of needed AH to begin with.
