God, how bad a returner do you have to be to be 54th in a 32 team league. I still like him. Just let him stick to the slot. He will have a great year there.

Your crazy if you think he was a better runner then Vick in college. He was very good but no where near Vick as a better QB.

Portis will get his share of carries, Betts will get more action on 3rd down and you can count on Moss getting his share of balls thrown his way.

Throw Freddie Davis in the mix and I just don't see how Randle El elbows his way into that lineup for more than 60 touches. Could happen, but you're talking about a combination of things happening.
Exactly!! If it came to a choice between ARE and Marko Mitchell who would you take? I would take Mitchell based on his pre-season performance and potential shown so far and his age.

I would go with mitchell we certainly need some height at wr which we finally seem 2 be getting. now if Vinnie would just get his head out of danny's hind parts long enough to realize we still need some depth on the O Line

But the argument many here are making is that ARE will move back to his natural position, which is the slot, and be very productive there. Marko is a classic wideout, not slot wide out. So in my mind, he's not a natural fit for that position.

That being said, I'm not sure ARE will produce that much more even at slot.

I think he can put up no.s if he plays the slot & one of the other wr's becomes a deep threat in addition to Moss. ARE can get open in the middle of the field and he's been very dependable, doesn't drop much. He's just not a burner & he doesn't work well on the outside, near the sideline. He runs good crossing routes/slants & finds pockets in zones well.
Basically the point I was going to say was said by Freddy. All the plays/TDs that ARE makes for us that I can remember are out-routes and cross routes/patterns which he seems to excel at. And that would be ideal in the slot WR position. He can change direction easily and quickly and in the slot he can certainly find the holes/pockets in coverage if JC is vigilant enough to see them.

ARE wont beat out Kelly. I'm not sure about salary cap stuff but I get the impression that his cap number is too high to let him go which is good for him because I think he could be gone if he wasnt too expensive to cut.

Re: Randle El still useful?

Randle brings experience to the table. He is useful he can be that " wildcat" quarterback, How ever his role in the offense is not as profound as it once was i think he might be on his way out soon. Kelly having a good season would solidify it.

I think Moss should be playing in the slot ideally. We just don't have the personnel to make that happen.

My beef with ARE was the frigging $$$$$$$$$ You pay a guy that amount of chump change and you better produce. Albert Connell was more exciting than ARE.

Re: Randle El still useful?

great slot reciever, great threat in a wildcat formation, which we "wont run" .... leader on and off the field and really does have a good set of hands... he's dangerous

i wouldnt cut him or trade him.

Re: Randle El still useful?

Judging by his results over the past three seasons, I don't see how anyone can label him "dangerous". Even with a career high in receptions last year, he didn't make us a potent offense.

Can't be mad at ARE for the contract he signed. Blame for front office for that.

Re: Randle El still useful?

Like it or not (most of us don't), until one of these young bucks actually makes plays in regular season games, ARE is the 2nd best wr on the team. To talk about cutting him, even if feasible w/the cap, is a bit of an overeaction. Especially talking about Mitchell. I like the guy too, but let's see the guy make the roster first.
