Re: The Vick Factor
4 Dallas Cowboys in a car. Who's driving? The police.
What do you call a Cowboy fan with half a brain? Gifted. What do you call a beautiful girl in Dallas? A tourist. Why can't Romo use a phone? He can't find the receiver. How many players did the Cowboys dress for their last game? 22, the rest dressed themselves. What's the difference between a Cowboy fan and a baby? Eventually the baby stops whining. Bada Bing!

What concerned me the most was two fold.....does he fit our scheme? in other word would he fit in? and the second being his use of marijuana. Throughout his career at the Falcons little issues would come up similar to his "Airport" incident. was it his water bottle or not? The police were pretty positive then all of a sudden ...well we are not sure. mistakes were made. someone else could have walked up while he was placing all his personal carry ons in the tub and placed a weed fill water bottle in his tub just to get him into trouble. Basically, I'm sure he's better then Collins. He's an upgrade. So if he can be tought the WCO which I believed he has played in it, then he should be all right in it. The second issue is the main concern then. I presume his yrs in prison have eliminated his weed issue....or so I would hope. I would put in his contract that he gets random drug tests, give a portion of his earning to PETA, and in is off duty time volunteer his time to any animal organization. If he agrees....sign him and see if he's better then TC. |

If the local police would have done their job and investigated the crime MV would have probably only gotten a misdemeanor for the cruelty part. I think the locals saw this case as being bigger then them and requested help from the feds which turned it into felony charges. Beating your wife is only a misdemeanor. After a 3rd charge in 20 yrs does it becomes a felony. All charges don't have to come from one county or from Virginia either. If you move into VA and have had 2 prior domestic charges then catch a third guess what ....it becomes a felony. |

Re: The Vick Factor
How come people try so hard to humanize animals?
Your druggie question: I think it has to deal with him only hurting himself vs. someone or something else. |

Re: The Vick Factor
30 yrs ago Vets would not have done a colonoscopy or endoscopy on a dog or cat. The cost to have this done $3000.00 People allow the Vets to perform this type of care for their pets all the time, and due to this the Vets see people as willing to pay whatever it costs to keep the animal alive. Now Vets charge an office visit that is as much if not more then some doctors.
Yes, MV was an asshole for what he did. He got punished and whether anyone thinks it was too hard or not hard enough he paid a price. A judge or jury gave him what they felt he deserved. Part of it based off of how much info he gave to the investigators. He could have easily said no I'm not talking and taken his punishment. If he gave them good info, info that would help lead to other criminals doing the same thing...to help stop animal cruelty then perhaps his punishment was just and fair. Atleast he was doing his part to stop others from doing the same crap he was. |

* - ? Cowboy? Why would you start the conversation by insulting me like that. You coulda called me Chief, Crazy Injun, Mook...but, Cowboy? Ok, in all seriousness, I never said anything about where it took place. I don't think it really matters to me what state the offense takes place. It could be in a different country for all I care. I think my point is more about the abuse of people vs the abuse of animals & how we seemingly regard a dogs life over a persons. That's all. Virginia never even tip-toed across my mind. |

It's cool. No big deal. I understand how people feel about the subject, I really do. And I'm not opposed to putting someone like Mike Vick in prison for what he did. It seems to me though that our society gets more upset when they hear about a dog abuser, but barely raise an eyebrow at someone who hurts his family. I mean, unless it's like Chris Benoit or the guy who throws his 3 month old from a moving car. It's not until it is extreme that everyone goes, "OMG! That's terrible." That's really more my point then anything. I guess in that case, Vick falls into that category seeing extent of the nature of his crime. |
