He does indeed DESERVE enough respect to be told "hey kid, you didn't perform well enough to ensure your starting position here next year". I don't have a problem with the Skins looking for a replacement if thats what they feel they need to do, but at the least, be honest with Campbell about it.
Do you really think he didnt know this going into the offseason??? JC and his agent are smart enough to know hes not rock solid number 1 future qb in the FO's mind. They had meetings together recently so its not like JC is oblivious to whats going on.

I think that you could argue that we're a lineman, true WR, and definite answer at QB away.

Damn you beat me to it. Kinda nice that 2 out of the 3 could already be on the roster.

Cowherd has always been the PUNK of ESPN radio.. He is always searching for
ratings, and trying to gas up DC talk. Last year he was the same way on Ovie,
Portis, Campbell, Arenas, and the whole "Nats organization. You can't get mad
at the comments of the ignorant....... it's worthless.

Of all the teams in the NFC East I do think the Skins fans are the least intense. I dont ever recall any other NFC East team having their stadium over-run by visiting fans.

Re: Colin Cowherd: Skins fans worst in the NFC East

We are what we are. When Cook was the owner he got his football people to run the team and sat back and enjoyed it. The only thing he had to do was decide if the money was right and pay for it.

DS is a business man. I truly wonder sometimes who teach's business school cause if you talk to anyone to has been to business school they spew the same dribble as each other. No one seems to think outside the box. Perhaps they get drilled into their heads what has worked throughtout history, become brain washed and simply do what everyone does and says. DS is no different. He's running the Skins like a business. It's all about the dollars and cents. Think about big business, if any business starts to falter the owners seem to lose their CO.

I see it as the business way of thinking. If the business is not making money or producing or making forward progress your losing. I know the Skins are one of the better teams but business is business. There used to be a business side of football and a football side of football. Now with the new younger owners JJ, DS and the like we are starting to see it all blending. The owner dabbles in both sides because it's all one big business.

I agree that the the invasion of Steelers nation on national TV was a huge embarrassment to our fan base, but also consider that the broader fan base beyond corporate season ticket holders is as rabid as any. We are a one sport town - there are the Redskins, then there are everyone else. Cowherd does not have a clue about our fan base, but he's spot on when it comes to our dysfunctional FO. And no, we are not a player or two away from contending for the Super Bowl. At this point, squeaking in as a 6 seed and facing early elimination from the post-season is about all that we are built to accomplish. That said, is there anything wrong with the optimism of our fan base? I say hell no to Cowturd on that count.

I think rabid is too strong. Maybe loyal works better. Skins fans would never buy up a bunch of tickets and drive 4 hours to take over an opponents stadium.

I've done that, but there were only two of us, so our ability to take over the stadium was limited.

I really doubt that most of them were actually from Pittsburgh. The Steelers are a very popular team right now and they have a ton of people who like them for no other reason than they're good.
Likewise, as we've talked about here in the past, DC is a city filled with people who are originally from other parts of the country so you're almost always going to find people supporting the visitors in our sports arenas. They either relocated to the area for a job or they use the fact that their team is playing here as an excuse to take a trip to DC to act like tourists.
Just as an example: I went to the Nats v Marlins game on Friday night and my friend and I counted people wearing hats, sweatshirts, jerseys, etc. from about 20 teams other than those two throughout the night.

All this doesn't justify what happened that night (but it certainly made for an annoying birthday for myself) but I think it played a part.

Very true, Pgh has had a lot of people move away from Pgh and its hard to go anywhere without running into someone from Pgh. The DC area is full of the Pgh diaspora (maybe more than any city on the east coast) and that certainly has an effect on how well they do at taking over stadiums. The problem is that outside of DC there rally arent many Skins fans (the Skins havent done much lately to attract new fans) so they just dont have the numbers to really take over a stadium.

I don't know if anyone has seen the interview w/ Ted Leonsis, owner of the Caps on comcast recently. He talks about the decision to purchase the Caps and what his goals were. To paraphrase his thoughts:

-Create passion w/ the fans
-Create a family environment at Verizon
-Create new, young Caps fans by enticing families to come out to games
- put a product on the ice that fans will like and can get behind

Those aren't his exact words but how refreshing is that. A focus on the family and creating energetic, new fans. Someone could learn something by that. The product has to be good obviously. TL is a smart dude.
