Do the math, the vast majority of nfl players will not win a super bowl. that doesn't mean they didn't play well & for good teams. Plus he made decent $ & the fans loved him. |

Great player, just wished he could have stayed on the field more. Will be missed.

Re: Updated: Redskins Release Marcus Washington
MW was a great Linebacker and roll model on and off the field for the Redskins.
As life goes and we age, and certainly in this business it's hard to stay healthy in the latter years this happened to MW. I wish him nothing but the very best with the rest of his career against everyone except the Skins! Really cool cat/gentlemen, that made time for the fans loved the Skins (A true Redskin) will be missed. All good things must come to an end. Have to just keep in mind this is nothing more than a HUGE BUSINESS decision. Nothing more.

Re: Updated: Redskins Release Marcus Washington
I had a couple of questions i wanted to get everyones opinions on:
1) What are the chances we bring Washington back at a much reduced salary? 2) What is the best way to replace Washington? Do we look to the draft? Free agency? Or what about Smoots idea that we move Jason Taylor to OLB and let him replace Washington?

He went twice to playoffs but they were under the most dire circumstances where we had to win 4 and 5 straight just to play in a wildcard spot. I'm dissapointed in the fact that he was a solid free agent pickup who panned out with the Skins and never really got a chance to be on a dominating team through his peak years. Since he was a free agent he could have selected any team that wanted him and I wished that the Skins held their side of it and became competitive in the light of making such a successful pickup.

Re: Updated: Redskins Release Marcus Washington
Until i see this actually yield results i'm less than positive... JT is lousy against the run and just not a big hitter. Maybe at weakside he'll manage as a pass rusher but keep in mind offenses will target the hell out of him (especially w/ AC on the same side). If we do this Blache will likely have to keep Horton hovering on that side of the field to fly in and blast the ballcarrier. We'll see...

Re: Updated: Redskins Release Marcus Washington
does this mean we'll be seeing more of Blades? possible the coaches were confident enough to let MW go because of what they've seen in him?

Re: Updated: Redskins Release Marcus Washington
Linebacker is my favorite position in football. When it is played well, it is a thing of beauty to me. When I was teenager, it's the only position I would play in our neighborhood pick-up games. No pads, lots of blood. To see someone like Marcus play the position with such passion is something I love to watch and gets me psyched beyond belief. It is something I would have loved to do, but could never be.

Re: Updated: Redskins Release Marcus Washington
Well put. I'm hoping for the impossible. Resign Marcus or have Curry fall into our laps. Thanks man.

Re: Updated: Redskins Release Marcus Washington
Damn, looks like I have yet another jersey that I'll likely never wear again. D'oh! At least I still have my #81.
Anyone want to buy a Ramsey #11/Coles #80/Bailey #24/or Washington #53 jersey?
