But from 1989-1997 KC was consistently a good team. Something Vinny and Snyder have not done in Washington.

KC Season Record

1997 13 3 0 1st
1996 9 7 0 2nd
1995 13 3 0 1st
1994 9 7 0 2nd
1993 11 5 0 1st
1992 10 6 0 2nd
1991 10 6 0 2nd
1990 11 5 0 2nd
1989 8 7 1 2nd
Sure, they had a decent run a decade ago. But I don't know what made them "the model franchise" or one of the top 5 in the NFL

During that period of time during Marty's tenure as Head Coach KC went 104-65-1, that is a strong accomplishment for any team.
During that time they were a top 5 team.
Being a winner for many years is a major accomplishment. While it does not come close to winning a super bowl, you have to give Carp Peterson credit for hiring the coaches and drafting the players that made up that team.

That's a pretty good run. I would venture to say that record is probably top 5 in the nfl during that period. Granted, no SB's but give him some credit.

Not that i would want Peterson, but it amazes me some would be so quick to say no, yet defend VC and his 8 year track record here.

Regardless of what Vinny has done, I'm just not all that impressed with what Peterson did in his 20 years in KC. One AFC Championship appearance? To me that's pretty easy to say no to.

I can see that. I would tend to chalk the one AFC Championship a bit of bad luck.

CP put the talent in place and they had talent generally, and it's up to the players and coaches to win. For whatever reason, they didn't. They cruised thru the reg season and blew it in the playoffs every year.

Again, i don't want CP, I'd prefer someone younger like a Thomas Demitroff. I actually don't know his age but am assuming he's under 50.

Didn't the Falcons just hire Demitroff?

Yeah well, Vinny + Danny + (fill in the blank HC thus far) = mediocrity. Sometimes a tad better than mediocre, and sometimes borderline laughing stock. I'm open to all options/suggestions right now as far as FO is concerned.

Over the course of 20 years that's a lot of bad luck.

I don't disagree. That's why we don't bring Peterson in cause he would be no improvement over Vinny. I would much rather get Bobby DePaul or the new young guy we brought this year from Chicago (can't remember his name) be given a chance. Young Blood!! No retreads!!

I think this is what we are attempting to do with Scott Campbell. Obviously the jury is still out.

Yeah, it's kind of strange. It would be no surprise if we're all confused with the job titles we're handing out (again). Campbell is director of player personnel, and Morocco Brown is head of pro personnel. Not sure if this is normal....

I don't know what the industry norm is necessarily, but the idea is that Brown's focus is much more on in-season personnel activity. So that would include overseeing advance scouting of the next opponent, the practice squads, the waiver wire, etc.
