Ugh...the insanity here the last couple days...I will be able to sleep knowing that Hootie is a skins fan though.

I asked the MOD if the title of the thread could be changed, and if you don't know what's going, you shouldn't open your mouth. Next time just let things you dont know about, be.

It was a good try though.
Whats up with the attitude all the time? You on the rag?

Wikipedia says Dan Marino appeared in one of their videos. I think Hootie likes the fins.

Re: Famous Redskins Fans

FYI if you watch the bonus features of the Replacements on DVD it explains that the NFL did not want to support a comedy about the 1987 strike. Almost no team in the NFL would allow the Filmmakers to use their stadium with the excecption of Baltimore. To paraphase what the Ravens owner said "Nobody in the league likes me anyway, so you can use my stadium to make your movie". It was about the 1987 Players strike and the Skins, but the names were changed to protect the not so innocent.

Similarly, this movie is not set in the NFL, but rather an unnamed fictional league (much like in "Any Given Sunday"). They never mention the NFL, you never see the NFL logo. Therefore, any "mistake" which references a NFL rule or team is not a mistake at all, since the rules and teams in this fictional league may be different from the NFL.
Yes, this is because the NFL would not authrorize the movie... even the last game was based on the strike, with the Cowgirls getting back most of their players - and played against the all scab Redskin team... and LOOSING

Re: Famous Redskins Fans

I saw the guitar player of Hootie and the Blowfish at a Skins game 2 years ago. Skins -vs- Eagles. He was tossing a football and tailgating right next my tailgating group. I'd say HE's a Skins fan.

Darius Rucker I think likes the Dolphins.

If I remember right, a couple of those guys are graduates of Seneca Valley High School (about 30 minutes north of DC) so it would stand to reason that there may be a Redskins fan in that group.

My Uncle Carl is a Redskins fan also. He once played a passed out drunk in a Hee Haw skit. I think that makes him famous enough to mention.

Wait, why are they douches? Local guys who became famous musicians without any pop gimmicks that support the local team seem good to me!

I gotta say I think its awesome that some of these celebs are skins fans cuz i'm tired of always seeing cowboys/yankees/boston (red sox and pats) celebrity fans gettin facetime, especially when they sport the apparel and are obnoxious when their teams win. The problem is that our celeb fans aren't vocal enough in their support except for Dale jr. Although I did REALLY enjoy that one time that Avery Johnson came on the mic with the "How bout dem REEEDDskins" comment. It was at a Dallas Mavs (the team HE coaches) game the day after Brunell through those two TD's to beat the cowgirls in the last 4 minutes of the game. That win and that moment are things I will take with me forever as a skins fan. We were able to rub it into Dallas' face across lines of football into basketball territory!

I remember reading an SI interview with Matthew McConaughey right around the time that We Are Marshall came out where he talked about why he's been a Redskins fan since he was a kid.

Re: Famous Redskins Fans

I remember when the Redskins were playing in Super Bowl XVII, Stephanie Zimblast, who starred opposite Pierce Brosnan in the NBC show "Remington Steele," was at the game, wearing a Redskins t-shirt, trying to explain football to Brosnan.
