Seriously, if I hadn't started that other thread, would Smoot be on the list? The wind shut down almost all of the passing in the game.
For you, no I guess he wouldn't.

For those that saw the same game I did, absolutely he deserves to be on the list.

Re: Skins vs. Giants game balls

Portis. With the weather conditions and Todd Collins at QB, if we had no running game, we'd have NO chance.

Portis stepped up BIG and moved the ball down the field for us when no one else really could.

Smoot was my second choice, he played a GREAT game on D, but without Portis' game, we'd have no points. He also saved Collins' life with some big-time blocks several times.

Another vote for Portis. If the run game doesn't get off the ground (the O Line did well, but Portis did awesome finishing off runs), the Skins have zero chance in this game, even with the 400 drops the Giants had...

I gave it to O line for opening holes for Portis and giving Collins time to make some playes.

onlydarksets: really? because I saw him ripping balls out of Plax's hands. Give it up when credit is due.

This is a multiple game ball kind of game. Game balls to the offensive line, Portis, Smoot, Suisham, Carter, Alexander and most of all the WIND!!!!

Re: Skins vs. Giants game balls

I"ll give it to Portis just because he's been struggling this year. But the offensive line did their part to shut down that line that leads the league in sacks. They also made some gaping holes especially off the draw plays. This was another typical Joe Gibbs win. Running the ball down their throats and playing great D. But I still think Smoot deserves all the credit in the world. He shut down Plaxico and he has been phenomenal for the second straight game. It feels really good to beat New York and put them in a hard position with only two games left.

Re: Skins vs. Giants game balls

I said this in another thread, but I think CP has actually had a pretty good year, especially considering all of the injuries on the O-line. He's on pace for 1600 all-purpose yards and 9 TDs. Plus he's just a wicked blocking back and a consummate team player. He's just played below the radar for some reason.

.....or how about we give the game ball to Brandon Jacobs for dropping everything? ......But he might drop the game ball also.

I give it to Portis. Man he looked good last night. I didn't think there was anyway we were going to push around the Giants d-line like we did. That was a great effort.

And how about his fearless tackles - like the one where he knocked himself out taking on brandon. Springs, in his postgame interview, said he gave FS all kinds of heartache for that one.

Re: Skins vs. Giants game balls

I voted for the offensive line, but I just as easily could have given it to Portis. Betts had 8 carries for 29 yards, which comes to 3.6 per carry. So aside from the 15 yard TD on the draw, he didn't do too much. Portis on the other hand really created some runs, the spin move to get away from Strahan, etc.

But the offensive line sold that draw play all game long, and came up big by only allowing 2 sacks to that vaunted Giants pass rush. Heyer on Strahan was especially good, which was my biggest worry going into the game. Portis had a hand in pass protection too - he was diving all over the place and laying dudes out.

Can I give out two game balls?

I give it to Moss. His catch started the entire offense moving. It helped Collins relax and just play.

I keep hearing this, but he has 1396 yards (1082 rushing)with 8 TDs, is 3rd in the NFC in rushing and 7th in the NFL.
