Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

4-2 is my vote!

I think that we lose to the g-men and to the bucs...but...you know there was going to be more!

I think we can go 5-1 or 6-0 if the offense opens up like in the past weeks. I have already heard rumors of our game plan against the bucs...pound the rock!
If we fall back to smashmouth then we will go 3-3. The NFL today is scoring TD's and the Skins don't have the hogs up front right now to do what we did before in December. Look at the Pats and Boys. Throw more in the end zone not short and hope to run it in. Philosophy is the key!

I am not saying to abandon the run either. Portis needs about 20 carries and JC needs to throw about 25-30 times a game. Betts can get 5 to 7 carries. Balance is the key.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

I voted 5-1 based on strength of schedule. However, it remains to be seen whether or not the Skins continue to let Jason Campbell throw the ball like they did against Dallas or if they go back to the predictable run, run, pass offense the was (imo) offensive. It was obvious that they threw Dallas off by letting Campbell out and it worked. With a healthy Sean Taylor I believe the Skins have the capablity to beat Dallas at home. I also believe they can beat TB, Buf, Chi and Minn. The question with Minn is can they stop Adrian Peterson. Well, for that matter, can anybody? I think they can win this game because the Skins offense can put up more points than Minn, Peterson or no Peterson. The Giants game is the one doubt I have. Their pass rush is dangerous and it is unknown if Randy Thomas will be healthy. That being said, it is difficult for any team to run the gauntlet. (For God's sake, will somebody please beat the Patriots!!!!!)

5-1. We can beat Dallas with Taylor back.

Punt game. Dallas will rest starters for the playoffs. Washington will win.

I couldn't decide between 4-2 and 5-1, so I chose 5-1 as a homey pick...either way, I have no doubt we will make the playoffs.

No one is gonna be benching players if homefield advantage is at stake. Especially with the rivalry that the two teams have.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

Well, I originally predicted 3-3 but didn't say anything to back it up. My gut still tells me the same thing but I hope I'm wrong. Trying to predict which 3 we win and which 3 we lose is absurd IMO because we're so unpredictable. We could beat Dallas and lose to Chicago or visa-versa. The only game I have a strong notion for is NY because we just can't seem to find a way to win up there against the Giants.

But like I said, I totally, sincerely, and almost desperately hope I'm wrong and we go 5-1 or 6-0. The one thing I do know is that I won't be surprised at anything.

I think this is a good point. If Dallas wins against Green Bay, and wins the rest of their games up until Washington, they'll have homefeild locked up and based on what Wade Phillips did in Buffalo (he had a few playoff teams there), he'll rest his starters....

So I want to reserve until I see how we play against Tampa this weekend, if the way we played last week was indicative of how we will play.....

But I think Buffalo, Chicago, Minnesota are wins....

I think we can beat Tampa, Lord Help me if we dont beat Dallas if they don't play their starters, and we can beat New York too...but we'll see...none of these are going to be easy games, so I'll go with 4-2 and 5-1 if we play Dallas' 4th strigers.

I think we turned the corner last week to be honest. I don't think the team has really been uncertain of itself to be honest, but they have had a penchant for self-destructing at the wrong time. That can be emotionally draining too.

If we can put together a solid win against Tampa and come back the following week with a "W", I'll take the Skins as much as anyone else in the playoff picture.

Detroit losing yesterday and falling to 6-5 really helps our cause. Philly and Arizona are the other 5-5. Philly is obviously gonna get pounded this weekend to drop to 5-6. Arizona will probably beat SF to move to 6-5, but we have the tiebreaker with the Lions and Cardinals. I very much like our odds of coming out of this weekend holding onto the 6th spot in the conference. I'm predicting 3 wins in a row to get us to 8-5 heading in to the week 15 games in the Meadowlands....

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

It's cliche, but we just have to focus on our own games one at a time. Tampa isn't a must win but it would be key to a big push down the stretch. Looking back, I think the wins against Detroit and Arizona will look better and better each week.

Re: 6 games to go... predict the stretch run

I originally said 3-3 (before the Tampa game) but I think the reality of the situation has become clearer today. The only team left on our schedule I can see us possibly defeating is Buffalo next week (and that largely depends on the kind of day Lynch has). Dallas and NY in NY will be ugly losses. The Bears actually have... and I never thought I would be saying this... more offense than us. And finally, the Vikings are tough at home and playing far better football than us now.

So, 1-5 is logical. I know many of you already predicted 1-5 so I'm behind the curve here but what can I say.

On the other hand 6-10 overall is an improvement over last year.

That's it in a nut shell. I originally predicted 4 wins and 2 losses to finish the regular season, but now I have serious doubts. Hell, I had doubts before the TB loss, but thought I'd be a little more optimistic. We just seem to back up so many solid performances with so many mistakes I really can't realistically predict anything for the 'Skins anymore.

Good point, MT. The only people who are wrong were those who predicted a 6-0 finish. For those who voted 5-1 or less...it's too early to call them out as blind kool-aid drinkers.

Not that theres anything wrong with that.
