Re: Is Football getting frustrating to anyone else?
Why do some only want to look at the negative side of the "what if" game?
Hey, if Betts doesn't stumble against the Giants maybe we have another win. If Moss doesn't fumble against Green Bay perhaps we have another win. It goes both ways. |

The record is what it is. We are a 5-3 team. At the beginning of the year, I felt we would be .500 at this point so this is definitely welcome. But independent of the record, this team is what it is. And that's a team who's consistent body of work probably doesn't warrant a .625 winning percentage. Closer to .500 maybe. We can blame the three major injuries we have, but I still have yet to see the big improvement we are waiting on. We played the 32nd defense today and eeked by ever so slightly. Good job by the ground game today, but it's obvious that the ground game can not carry this team to where it needs to be. And now I'm getting a bit antsy. The passing game still isn't clicking, hasn't been in 4 weeks, and we are now out of time to correct it. Philadelphia, Dallas, and Tampa on the horizon. Practice time is over, the passing game HAS to be there and now.

Re: Is Football getting frustrating to anyone else?
Frustrating is having your head coach bail on you after saying he won't, trading for a 36 year old QB coming off a year where he missed half the season due to a vicious concussion..and then being out for the year again after suffering another concussion, losing your top RB for the second time due to his affinity for weed...and then losing his backup (that first rounder you selected) for the year due to a torn ACL, using the 9th pick in the draft to draft a glorified punt returner whose barely made a dent while the team had so many other needs, blowing 3 halftime leads, losing 4 games by three points or less, and being 0-8 at the halfway point.
Thank goodness we're not the Dolphins By the way, why is there no thread this week about how we came back from a halftime deficit? Don't care to talk about it when it's the other way around?

Re: Is Football getting frustrating to anyone else?
hahaha, i wonder when coach Gibbs went from air coreyll(sp) to ultra conservative? those good teams always used to take shots down the field. now, we take one a game. i thought our line play was pretty good yesterday. its almost like they are telling Campbell to look, and if its not there immediately, check down. lets throw it deep, and let our receivers make a play

My expectations of the skins and what is reality just don't match up I guess. 5-3 is good, if the Giants and Cowboys weren't 7-1 & 6-2

Re: Is Football getting frustrating to anyone else?
I understand this thread b/c it is frustrating watching the skins play football. It's almost like groundhog day. We did alot of good things today, no doubt. We won on the road which is not easy even against a 1-7 team.
However, unless everyone out there is happy being slightly above average we're going to have to learn how to score some points. We got away w/ it today w/ an exceptional running game. To be a super bowl contender we've got to start trying to score some points. It's kind of funny, in the 1st half inside the 10 our jumbo package came in...guess what....run stuffed. It's not that it was a bad call its that we always do that and the opponent knew what was coming. These are games where you've got to "get things going" offensively to carry on to other games. I really am happy w/ the win but i'm unhappy w/ the overall direction of this offense right now. Let Al Saunder have control of this offense. He doesn't right now, period. |

Re: Is Football getting frustrating to anyone else?
It is somewhat fustrating to watch this offense at times. But again we won...whats the problem? It wasnt pretty enough for some? I would rather have a ugly win than a pretty loss. Thats as cut and dry as it can be said.

Re: Is Football getting frustrating to anyone else?
5-3 is good. I guess I am tired of hearing about the three losses, instead of the five wins. And i guess what I was getting at with this thread is I am tired of watchingmy teams lose (Indians). And, the computer doesn't bitch back at me like my wife does.

Re: Is Football getting frustrating to anyone else?
We do hear about the 5 wins, when people try to discount them as games we should have lost.

Very true but as people have tried to say in the past it is not how many points you win by but if you win at all.

I agree. While I also understand the posts about how we should look at the positive side of things (i.e.-comebacks, etc.), this thread is simply asking the question if we're getting frustrated with Redskins football. My answer, and pretty much has been my answer for say...oh the last 15 years, is yes. Does this mean I don't fully support our team? Of course not. But you've got to see it for what it really is, and folks it ain't always pretty. I watched the Indy vs. Pats game last night and that my friend was a football game filled with excitement. The coaches coached and the players executed. That is what I miss the most: Competitive, hard fought, well executed football games with intensity. It has just been a common occurance about every mid-season that I am watching our team look very average to just plain poor. Yet, every year I re-subscribe to the NFL Ticket and my family joins me to huddle around the tube every Sunday to watch the team we love the most and hope that someday soon that they'll finally get it right. We'll continue to soldier on but more often times than not it does get frustrating.

OUR OFFENSE IS RUNNING THE BALL EARLY AND OFTEN, CONTROLLING THE CLOCK, PROTECTING THE BALL, LETTING OUR D MAKE PLAYS, then in the second half when the opponent is stacking the box we hit em up for long play action passes, by the beginning of the 4th quarter their front 4 is battered and tired and we start busting off big runs to kill the clock and put our opponent to sleep. it is a beautiful thing to watch when we do it well! go skins! |
