More madden fun

simulated another skins 2005 season... 6-10, betts for 1004yds, portis for 240yds and 580 reception yards... buh??? i also noticed that the giants are over-rated in 2k5 (they win the division a ton and go 8-8 or better 90% of the time)... it's sad that they added gibbs in name, but left him spurriers play book (O line gives up tons of sacks still), and forgot williams D schemes (they should also use him for the team's D coaching ratings) they got that crap ready for spurrier, but not gibbs... bleh.

I also tried a trade (portis for LT)... LT ended up with 1714yrd ground, 692 air, while portis has 2380 ground, 580 air FOR THE CHARGERS...

and I found out that using a WR for the ground attack training camp drill is a good idea... moss is maxed out in the receiver skills, so using ground attack to give him 7 more break tackle skill is a great idea...

its also kind of funny that arrington can line up anywhere in the front seven and stay around 90+ overall, tempting to get another LB (since pierce sucks in 2k5) and line him up as a pass deflecting sack master DE

overall i liked 2004 more, the O-line for the skins in this is horrible (docker/raymer get abused), and the simulations have the skins losing a lot of easy games... last year the simulations won for the skins a lot more, even though the team and coach had far less talent.

for a game thats been out since 2001, i'm surprised by the various glitches i've seen (done a few pocket presence drill where my favre was given the RB controls... couldn't throw to the receivers, but i could juke and spin all over the place lol)... lots of bad clipping and seeing parts of models through each other (like seeing half a foot through a 1st down flag from the sideline, the flag would cover parts of the model, and other pieces would show through when they shouldn't be)... lots more, no need to rant on...

maybe next year...

oh yeah, if anyone is wondering, everything done in madden is on all-madden difficulty, and i usually (but not always) turn off injuries, fatigue and subs.

I go the other way with maxed RB's. Put them in the receiving drill and you can raise their acceleration - at least in 2004. I don't have 2005 yet.

yeah, portis can use the break tackle more.. i think his acceleration is nearly maxed...
the ground attack is easier to get 7 points in than the receiving drill (i do 5-7 points on most drill, though i REALLY suck at swat ball and precision passing (3 points and 2 points usually))

2005 is out for pc now

Talking

It's finally out in the UK but I have to wait til November and my birthday to get it cos I have a baby girl coming in December and all the spare money is going in her direction.

When I finally do get it, I'll have too many sleepless nights to play it (1st baby)!

i use linebacker in the trench fight because its easier to run arround the lineman and you can increase there strength
