I hate to comment to early...but this kid looks like the real deal. I think we have our QB of the future right now!

Re: Jason Campbell's development

Campbell has the tools...he got his time in last year to learn the offense at game speed. This year I feel he will be a step ahead and a ponding/clock chewing running game (provided we stay healthy) sound help him mature even more and open up that passing game!!

A CAMPBELL SPECIAL

At this time of year, during organized team activities, many players are said to look good.

But Washington quarterback Jason Campbell is said to look especially good.

After two years in the league as an understudy, and four hours each day this winter and spring in Washington's training facility simply studying, Campbell is said to look like a different quarterback, Redskins officials said this week.

One observer even predicted, boldly, that Campbell would go to the Pro Bowl this season.

Of course it's a long way from Washington in May to Hawaii in February, but Campbell has demonstrated improved technique, understanding and confidence. And after a week of OTA's, he has been the most talked about player in the Redskins organization.

"It's unanimous from everybody," one Redskins official said this week. "You can definitely see it. He's like a totally different quarterback. The receivers have been like, 'Wow.' "

Much of the credit belongs to Washington offensive coordinator Al Saunders and quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor, who have poured their energies and time into Campbell's offseason training.

But Campbell also has recognized that the Redskins need him to step up in a way that Patrick Ramsey and Mark Brunell and every other Washington quarterback in recent seasons hasn't.

So far he has. But the key will be whether he will continue it in training camp and then into the regular season.

Thats about the same stuff that they had on the NFL network last night. Not sure of the guys name but he was saying that his drop back and release is so much quicker and smother than last year its lkie another QB out there. Now if he can keep this up and produce # on Sundays we could be looking at a long term fix which we have been looking for. I will not buy the hype until I see him play when it counts on Sundays.

Re: Jason Campbell's development

i got a man crush on campbell, i think he has a chance to be great but im surprised noone has talked about the glitch in his delivery, he seems to hold to ball low so when he wants to throw it he has to bring his arm significantly back before it can start to move forward . . . ive compared his throwing motion to peyton and others and he does hold the ball low causing vital split seconds to be lost in bringing the ball back and up . .

i know there has been a few WP articles about it too . .

Just curious - Who were the players taken with the picks we traded to get Campbell?

I don't put a lot of stock into throwing motion so long as the QB can be accurate, guy's who are unconevtional with their throwing motion usually have compensated for whatever problem may arise from it in other areas of their game. I liken it to a hitch or a lot of movement in a baseball swing they usually find a way to get the bat in the right position just before they need to start swinging.

Very good point. Hopefully once we get to see him in Training Camp his delivery will be much improved if not totaly fixed. The one thing that does minimize this problem is his tremendous arm strength. Even though his release is not a quick as you would like, his velocity usually makes up for it....Yes I am an enternal optimist

Re: Jason Campbell's development

is that prediction based on anything? i foresee a big year by the running game, trying to bring Campbell along slowly. and keep our defense off the field

I agree, it's relatively meaningless.

Favre has a huge winding throwing motion, he's had a pretty good career. I know he's thrown a lot of INTs lately but that's not due to the throwing motion, that's from being reckless and desperate.
